I wonder was he gay, transgendered as well as having mentally health issue but could not express himself in this way and went to the world of fantasy to live out these roles. He seemed quite aware of how to wear make up and women's clothing. There was more going on in this home than people are willing to talk about. I wonder was he sexually abused.?

Father knew that his son had violent tendencies, and was aware that his son made threats to harm himself and others. However, he chose to look the other way and co-sign for him to obtain weapons. That's sad,RIP to all the fallen angels. But I wanna say something, many kids or young adults make threats and behave like rebels and later they cool down and its over. Parents most of the time dont take such behaviours seriously and almost never will report to the police unless it gets outta hand. So I can understand the dad, he probably thought it were just empty words like a dog that barks all the time but never bites. If he knew what his minster son had planned he would have stopped him and had him arrested like any normal person. Its so sad what's happening in USA with all the shootings, I really dont understand how can someone easily procure weapons, in USA everyone is armed and have guns which they can buy legally, here in Europe u can't buy a gun/pistol but in USA they all carry heavy weapons like AK 47, M15, heckler and koch etc. I will never understand the US laws, people can buy heavy duty weapons, they can drive when 15, go to fight wars when 18 but if they want to buy a pack of cigarettes or beer they need an ID and be 21 years old at least, very funny laws you got.

This highlights one of the biggest issues in our country. Parents don't know what they should know about their kids and/or overlooking and dismissing things that are known about. Every parent says "my kid would never do that"... because that's what they want to think. Parents want to believe that because they have good morals and judgement, that their kids do as well. @@gildardomagallon I think the difference is going to be how the state law reads. It's not the same in every state. Was the "kid" under the age of 18 when dad signed for him? I haven't heard exactly how long ago that it was that dad signed consent. Legally, over the age of 18 is considered an adult, right. So why is it possible for dad to sign a consent if he was 21 when he purchased the guns? That sounds like a legal mess to me.

It’s bewildering to me that his father bought him guns knowing full well that he was mentally disturbed. He bought his son the guns right after her threatened to kill the whole family. He stands by that decision yet in the same breath he blames the judicial system for allowing his son to have access to guns. That makes no sense! This kid gave clear warnings about what he was going to do and those warnings were ignored. Anyone that knew about that and didn’t report it has blood on their hands. We all have a responsibility to say something when we see these red flags. There needs to be laws in place that prevent people like this from carrying out threats. If someone had stepped in and locked this kid up and got him help then this could have been prevented.

I’m sorry. The father needs to be held accountable. “Not knowing” is not an excuse. As a parent, you need to read the signs. That kid looks depressed, angry, has tattoos on his face, was probably withdrawn from his family, little to no friends, etc etc. And then did he even talk to the mother about the fact that he was going to sign the form??? The mother, I would hope, would have disclosed the prior acts that happened about the attempted suicide and threatening to kill the family. And if he did talk to the mom, and she didn’t disclose that information, she should be held accountable as well. The father is COMPLETELY DENSE to not realize it is A TERRIBLE IDEA to sponsor your child for a deadly weapon and you don’t even live with the child or know what’s going on in their personal life. Might has well have signed that for a stranger!

Who says they ignored it? The mental health system in the US is totally fucked because of junkies. If you're an addict you have an easier time getting help than if you have any form of mental illness because addiction can be checked with chemical testing while insanity can't. As soon as addiction was declared a disease, services that were being used to help people with actual mental conditions were siphoned off to help people who became addicts instead, and as a result we've seen a massive spike in mental health violence. When my son wanted to die because of problems at school, every single mental health agency in the city I live in told me they couldn't even do an intake for him within 6 months. 30 years ago, if someone was suicidal they got seen that same day, but not anymore, all because addiction is a disease instead of a personal failure.

This seems to be a repeating theme in these senseless attacks and killings... The shooter family says they know nothing about the violent tendencies, allow for an application for a high-powered weapon, then after carrying out a selfish, cowardly act, the realization the shooter is a minor with a personal history of mental issues. Parents need to wake up. Just because the kid is "old enough to know better" doesn't mean they do.

That’s a good idea. These young kids killing people. That starts in the home. Even before they are bullied or bullying others. Civil suits brought against parents of high income bracket, poor ones should pay in other ways. This has got to stop. These parents are not necessarily abusive, just too busy with careers, kids raised in day care, or nanny grandparents etc. Irresponsible dysfunctional families social services don’t heed warning signs of bad parenting, send children back. Babies having babies, some use as meal tickets to support bad habits, and just don’t care about kids. This could be foster care, adoption, step and natural parenting. I have to say I admire gay parenting . Elton and David, Anderson Cooper, Neil Patrick Harris, they seem to be lovingly raising happy children. Of course even loving parents can have a problem child. But chances are better for future if they get loving attention and care. Of course it depends on each individual case, some parents do all the right things but still have an evil child. Too much computer use, social media video games isolation. I say get social media off, just have private family friend chats, may documentaries. Photos videos and phone. Social Networks should be sued to allowing threats and manifestos on here, plus porn and hate. Parents are using computer s to act as babysitters. Yes parents have to held accountable especially if they give kid permits, and gun stores, they sell guns like candy. Some one made a good point other day” where is the good guy with a gun?” referring to a NRA quote. I realize parents have to work, and sadly essential for single or widowed parents. But two parent household parents can work different shifts so one parent home. Have to start hands on upbringing again. Only my opinion. But my case I worked my partner the father raised kids at home. He did work too when he could health issues, but he pretty much raised our kids. I have to give him credit. I was a good mom but to soft he was disciplinarian. It does make a difference with a parent raising children. For single or widowed , hopefully they have loving extended family before go daycare route. Two parents who work 9-5, exhausted, pick kids up at daycare go home make supper put kids to beds. Kids get more interaction with daycare workers sometimes. I don’t know. But it all starts in the home, before kids have friends as peers

Instead of taking the life of another, don't be a coward, take your own life. Thay way you can actually feel what it's like to have life gone. That's the only answers, because obviously even family members can't see when their own sons are desperatly seeking attention, go out an help them buy weapons of mass destruction, then turn around and kill innocent. I say, take your own life first, see how it feels.

When parents have a kid that has displayed as many red flags as this, and then that kid goes out on a shooting rampage, the parents should possess some kind of documented proof that they made reasonable attempts to steer him away from that behavior, like psychological counseling. With no proof to show that they even paid any attention to their child's behavior, how can they be anything but complicit?

If parents are involved in the purchase or they knew and did nothing they should face criminal and civil charges. By his own statement he sounds like an absent father so why would you buy a weapon for a child you know nothing about that's not how you repair or bond with a child. This is just sickening because they knew what he was capable of because they were threatened and he threatened himself so why weren't you watching him closely

With the mindset they are owed everything their hearts desires and the people that won't give it to them are a threat to their well being the democrat party has successfully created a new weapon of terror. The father is totally responsible! He fostered this by signing The sponsorship of the gun purchase! How about signing him up for a gun safety course first and attending it with him to make sure that he is mentally sound and responsible in caring a gun? He sponsored this whole mass murder that his son did! It’s his responsibility to talk to the other family members that he lives with to see what his activities have been and how he’s been behaving and if he’s been responsible. A background check is not going to reveal that and he should know that he should’ve known better. The problem is is that these gun advocates think that their gun rights far away and are more important than mental health. At the time that the amendment was created the amendment was created for the reason of being able to hunt and protect your own property. Because the British military and empire had taken away confiscated and made it illegal for all of the settlers to have guns because they didn’t want any uprising they didn’t want the settlers in America to be able to defend themselves against the British military trying to impose their governance over them. It was strictly meant for the ability to provide food with hunting and to defend your own property, your own family. And to possibly defend yourself from foreign invaders. The amendment was never created to arm the public to have an obsession with multiple fire arms as a collection and as an obsession. It was never meant to be used to gun down innocent citizens. The right to own a gun should not over power other sovereign citizens to a free life to just live their life. The amendment was never created to have automatic weapons be purchased by normal citizens. The amendment has just been used to make our country more dangerous by more dangerous people by sick people and some of the sickest people are in our government like Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert!

I have two issues with this. 1) He is an adult. At what point will we become responsible for our own actions? I was under the impression that adults were to be held accountable for their own actions. 2) Parents, and other close relations, can't be expected to literally know everything. Just think about your own life for a second... Did you share everything with your own parents? Or did you keep whatever you didn't want them to know private? He, as well as other mass shooters, may have written a lot of horrific things online, but they probably never showed any of that stuff to their parents. Of course, one could argue that bad parenting can be a contributing factor, but it doesn't have to be. Automatically going after the family of murderers just seems wrong. If you murdered someone, why would we go after your loved ones? They weren't the ones who murdered anyone. You did.
