''Good thing the two of us weren't on Alone, we'd still be there''. I confess to laughing at that, though ultimately I think Fowler would have probably edged it, simply based on his wide knowledge of survival skills and ability to create something from essentially nothing.

I enjoyed the Wheel, but it jumped around too much and it didn't spend long enough with each person, obvious as people dropped out they spent more time with each person, but we didn't get to understand what people really went through. Thanks for the explanation Luke, are you allowed to say what was in the bag? and also what you were allowed to take with you on the trip? any 10 items or were you restricted so you couldn't take additional clothes, tools, or shelters?

I agree that there is no way some one who hasn't gone through what you guys have would know what it's really like. That's why I get so defensive of contestants when people get critical of the alone contestants. We have learned so much from all of them. Thanks to them we know so much more and are gaming out new moves and never before thought of hacks. But that's all thanks to the people that have gone out there and done that. I think the bravest and craziest contestants were in season 1. Imagine having no idea. Nothing to even watch and strategize with. They had to come up with it all out of whole cloth. I honestly thought it was the stupidest idea ever putting people out there in predator country without a gun. I tuned in to see the train wreck. Instead I seen the beginning of one of the greatest projects in human nature and survival ever. Glad nobody got eaten too:)

What’s the difference between a feral rod and flint and steel??
@breaknfiction216 жыл бұрын
John Paulk “ferro” or ferrocerium rod is a metal alloy that is scraped with a sharp steel edge. When scraped it produces very hot sparks. Flint and steel and is just that. A piece of steel is used to strike a piece of flint. The high friction causes bits of iron to flake off and oxidize creating sparks. Not nearly as hot as ferro rod tho.

I have been watching The Wheel, and saw that nobody was able to use the cast net properly. You have to think of if like throwing a Frisbee. The lead weights will swing out in a circle which opens the nets to the full 16 foot diameter. As the weights sink, the net will cover a large circle on the floor of the water. When you pull back on the lanyard, it closes up the net allowing you to catch the fish. Here is a short video demonstrating the proper toss of a cast net. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mZzQZ3V_i9ese7s My mistake. Luke was giving decent tosses in episode four, The Tundra

He's building log cabins and stone fortresses while not eating for 4 days at a time? How is that exactly? Anyone that's actually done some fasting for several days and beyond knows your energy level drops to almost nothing and your injury vulnerability continuously ramps up from the lack of protein to the point where you start pulling muscles just bending over too fast. Something about this story doesn't add up, he's doubling his calorie usage to build these elaborate, mostly pointless shelters as soon as he arrives at each location... while starving and they're getting MORE elaborate the deeper into the time period and further into starvation he's going? They must've been getting refeeds when changing zones, that's the only way this trajectory of events makes any kind of sense. It's just absolutely outside the realm of physics unless you were getting a couple days of rest and refeeding between these zones.
@triskalion96274 жыл бұрын
More like water fasting which is very different than fasting. Also, if he is eating well before and after those four days it's totally possible.
