Cool! Pro tip I learned with releasing the air from my Float X; do it with a shock pump and use the bleed button. It’ll be way slower, but you won’t end up with the shock compressed because there’s no air in the positive chamber and some still in the negative (like yours was). Also makes taking the air can off safer 👍🏻

Nice! Thanks for that tip

Nice. I didn’t know it was this easy now. I thought past shocks required cutting a spacer out or doing a full rebuild to remove it. This setup is much easier to remove and replace if needed. Thanks for making this video!

Initially I thought it was much more difficult also, requiring special tools and such. Anyway, glad you found it useful

Crazy how easy it is. Thanks man. Can’t say this enough though… check and double-check for frame clearance

Hi! What can you say about the Upgrade Kit for that shock? As far as I know (there's no much info) you can add low speed rebound, that's gonna make it a lot like the factory one, obviously without the coatings.

Fox sells the shorted screws. That’s what you need

Hi man, can you tell me what your long term experience is with the removal of the chims? Did the bike run smoother and did the damper take any damage or anything? BR and thanks, Peter
@MILTONATOR Жыл бұрын
For sure. Just switched to coil and inspected the shock and found no damage whatsoever. The spacers are used by the manufacturer to be able to offer different strokes. That’s the only purpose of the spacers. Hope that helps

Thank for the video, did you also change the fork damper too gain more front travel?
@MILTONATOR Жыл бұрын
I did. I’m now running a fox 36 at 160mm travel but will bring that down to 150 and keep it more balanced (140/150 vs 130/140)
@piciu256 Жыл бұрын
Werent you just recently talking about how you want less travel for less dangerous riding? 😉
@MILTONATOR Жыл бұрын
Haha! Yep. I was happy with 130mm but the additional travel was there for the taking… so I took it 😁

Can this still be done and add a volume spacer?

A lot of bike brands void the warranty if you do something like this I know this because Transition bikes personally told me if you modify the travel of the bikes rear end automatic void warranty due to the added stress on the frame

I guess you could overstroke just by the 2.5mm, by taking of those spacers and have 136.5mm of travel. Arent those the volume spacers/tokens tho?
@MILTONATOR10 ай бұрын
Yep. You can make a 210x50, 210x52.5 or 210x55 simply by messing with the spacers also known as travel reducers. These spacers limit the travel of the stroke (shaft) whereas volume spacers reside in the other chamber and simply reduce volume “space”

So what’s better, an overstroked 130mm bike, or a 150mm bike running 20% sag (aka your Bronson)? Then the only difference is slight geo changes and 10-20mm fork travel.
@MILTONATOR Жыл бұрын
“Slight geo” aren’t so slight; at least not for me. And less sag doesn’t necessarily translate to less travel in terms of feel. But I can see why you’d ask that. In short, my Bronson felt amazing (suspension wise) but not nearly as capable or comfortable or fun on the climbs as my Fluid. Thanks
