Corporations definitely hold a lot of the blame, but we have to remember that the global economy is also recovering from Covid inflation. Our country peaked sooner than most of the other leading countries in the world, but it also had come back down faster and farther than those same countries. Inflation looks really bad when you ONLY look at America, but when you look at America compared to the rest of the world in the wake of the pandemic, you realize that our country has done better than many. That doesn't negate the effect corporate greed has created, though. I fully believe many corporations used the pandemic inflation as an opportunity to increase their profit margins. Unfortunately, what we are making as a country is not enough to keep up with the inflation that has already happened. Many people are at their breaking point

I wish more people understood that the inflation problem America has today is not a policy problem, but rather a greed problem. Insofar as policy is part of this issue is that Congress has refused to pass legislation that punishes corporations for taking unfair advantage of consumers and inflating their prices as though the COVID pandemic was still ongoing. These corporations drastically raised their prices during COVID, then saw that consumers still paid these high prices, and so they continued to keep prices at pandemic heights. As I said, the problem is corporate greed, plain and simple.

If American supermarkets are anything like Australian ones, as well as price gouging, they are undercutting what they pay farmers at the farm gate for their produce as well. Our government is currently working on legislation to stop it. We have 2 major players in our country, Coles and Woolworths and both have been dragged into Senate inquiry recently.
