A problem I see with the whole "Mahomes should get a chance" is what happens if both teams score a touchdown? Brady gets ball back on third possession and scores, we will then continue to say "Mahomes should have had another chance" and it'll go over and over since both teams had the capabilities of scoring. At the end of the day it's a team game, a team should be able to trust the defense to stop a touchdown, not even asking them to stop a field goal, just a touchdown.

@@SetsunaE Agree - which is tougher, going 75 yards for a TD or getting a stop and getting into field goal range? Richard...Your points make sense. Mike P. is obviously skipping some real reasons why time of games is so important. I think it has to do with the business side of the nfl. Sunday is the biggest day for viewership. Televised games start at noon (central time) and end at around 10:30 pm. That's 3 full games. Advertising money is critical. If one noon game overlaps the next scheduled game too often, advertisers lose millions of viewers. If Mike P. and many other well paid sports "analysts" told the whole truth, it would wake up fans about the business greed factor in professional sports that they always prefer to stay away from as much as possible. Notice that nobody has mentioned what I just mentioned. That makes my comment harder to believe! Secrets are secrets for a reason. To the people that are saying “Saints fans, you lost. Get over it.”...Get over it, you say? Well, let me explain why we aren’t. The NFL is the same NFL that orchestrated a witch-hunt in the way of Bountygate to try and rectify their concussion situation through a campaign to show the NFL cares about injuries. After the appeal, players won with backing of the NFLPA. Tagliabue came in to judge the appeal, he overruled Goodell’s ruling, and the players were able to play. Meanwhile, even though our players were proven innocent in the appeal, Goodell still upheld the suspension he cast upon Sean Payton. So, we had a coach suspended over a year for something that didn’t exist. However, before that, this is the same NFL that sent cease and desist letters to local New Orleans businesses for using the phrase “Who Dat” on custom T-shirt’s. The NFL, wanting to cash in on the Saints success, tried to claim ownership to a phrase that they cared nothing about prior. The NFL came at innocent businesses and tried to bully their way around. It didn’t work. They failed. The NFL didn’t own the phrase “Who Dat”. Now, here we are. The Saints had a Super Bowl berth taken from them by the same NFL that allowed two Los Angeles residing officials to officiate the Los Angeles Rams game in New Orleans where the most obvious pass interference call wasn’t called....and you want us to get over it?...Not happening.

Brees is still getting his 80 million, or whatever he is getting and we’re still living from pay check to paycheck. LOL. Football is a fast moving game and decisions have to be made in a very short amount of time. There have been and will continue to be a lot of bad calls in the NFL or any sport for that matter. In overtime, each team should get a change to touch ball and the opportunity to win the game and not the team who won the toss. That's not fair. That rushing the passer call on Brady was B.S. Nobody is saying anything about that. Or the Chiefs interception TD was overturned because of some line scrimmage call. Fans lost a lot of money on that game and along with high emotions is causing this issue to get way too much attention than it deserves. That TD that Jesse James made against the Pats was ruled not a TD, and it was clearly a TD. That Jets TD was ruled not a TD. I could go on and on. What the heck a catch? At the end of the day, the Refs are given the authority to make decisions and the NFL needs to stand with the Refs. They're given 15 minutes for OT, they should play the whole thing. Still tied after that, they go for another until someone legitimately wins when time runs out. Anyone remember the Pat Summerall and John Madden era where they *DIDN'T NEED* a Mike Pereira from the referee association to explain the ass-backwards officiating every freaking week? The networks have to resort to have folks like Pereira come in during games or interviews, days, and weeks after trying to do mental gymnastics to explain the garbage that's been displayed by the league's referees. It's been gradually getting worse for years now but Gooddell and the NFL have refused to address the problem. This is ONE main reason why I've stopped watching NFL games over the past few seasons. Got tired of seeing referees manipulating the outcome of games.

As a Saints fan, fire the ref who was on TommyLee Lewis. All 5 eligible receivers have their own ref spotting them, so that ref obviously wasn't doing his job and focusing on something other than the receiver. The foul wasn't hidden or obscured, the error was 100% the ref. Fire him to send a message, no change is needed in replay. Hire him back in a year or 2? I don't disagree with either guy's argument overall, but I would have to disagree with Rich's point that the fan's would need a human element still in place on controversial/challengeable plays. I think most fans just want to see the call be right, that's the main issue here. Secondly, just because a coach throws a red flag on the field doesn't mean that we see who is in Secaucus, New Jersey analyzing these replays, so we are already WAY past the point of having a human being visible to the fans on challenges, not to mention the fact that under 2 minutes the booth can review all scoring and out of bounds plays. Overall, I think a happy medium here would be to make ALL plays/calls under 2 minutes reviewable, so maybe giving the coach an 'Under 2-minute Bonus Challenge', since those are the most crucial times of each half. Just my take on it

they need to change the rules deciding what is a pass interference and what is not. it has gotten really ambiguous. if the players are fighting each other all the way down the field and one player gains the upper hand just as the ball arrives and catches the ball is it pass interference? how is a replay gonna help if you only watch the end of the play? who decides if the defensive player arrived a micro second to early or exactly the same time as the ball? the only way to make it clear and not seem as if the games are being decided by the refs is to make no contact at all and if the defensive player arrives at the same time as the ball or it is even close that has to be pass interference. I do like the idea of once the ball is in the air than all eyes (refs) are on the ball. I do think that contributed to this ref missing this call. I saw a lot of penalties called this season across the field from the field from where the ball was. is it really important if an o-lineman is holding after the running back is on the opposite side and 20 yds upfield? is that what we want the refs watching? get the call that matters right.
