I am one of the "drum and bass heads" Stan is referencing. I found his music back in about 2010 or 2011 (under Stan SB) and immediately connected with it. I found every song I could from him and listened to all of them for years. He eventually had a tour that made its way through the US and it included a show at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado. I went to it for his set and tracked him down after he was done on stage. He is a really nice guy and I still have the picture we took together. As Stan started to drift between genres, I lost a lot of love for his music and was upset with his decision at first. But I have nothing but respect for his transparency with fans and desire to be true to who he is. That is such a critical part of being creative and loving what you do. Keep making music Stan! You are awesome at it!

It was similar with me... my favorite was "Satisfied" back in the day. (As well as "Dead" and "Anyone out there".) I didn't lose love for his music later because of the genre change... but instead because he tried to make mainstream type music shortly after changing his name... where the lyrics weren't really meaningful, and the melodies were generic. It seemed like he stopped giving a damn about being himself and just wanted mainstream success. Thankfully he stopped with that recently, and started making soulful music again, so it's all good. Fun sidenote: When he was in Bratislava (Slovakia, central EU) I requested "Satisfied" from him, but he refused to play it... I still wonder about the reason sometimes. Maybe it was because it wouldn't have fit the mood... or maybe he was embarrassed about ever making such a song? Idk... What do you think?

This is how fans should be. I've been a fan of Stan for a long time, mostly his Dnb and Dubstep stuff. Although he's changing and seemingly leaving all of that behind these days, I fully support him doing what he wants. If I ever want to listen to the stuff of his that I like, I'll go back and listen to his old stuff. If he ever decides to come back to making stuff like that, I'll gladly come back and listen again.

@@TheSolidlad I can accept the stuff he was making after becoming Fox Stevenson not being for everyone, but none of it appealed to the mainstream. He made a lot of Dubstep after transitioning and that has never been mainstream outside of a single song. Think what you will of music like that not being "soulful" or having "generic melodies", but I don't believe it was in any way an attempt to find mainstream success from Stan.

@@Fenom007 I feel kinda bad now, reading my own comment... Idk anymore, I just don't feel like his newer stuff grabs my soul and moves it around in a joyful/sometimes bittersweet way anymore. And I know it's not my taste changing, as I still adore the old ones, and anything similar I find. I also love melodic dubstep/dnb, so that's not a problem either... but that's the thing, it has to be melodic, i.e. catchy, which was many times not the case with his (then) newer stuff... and also, the lyrics: I felt way more like he was opening up on an emotional level in his older songs, which captivated me. I have to check out his latest things, maybe I'll find something I like from him again. Hasn't checked in a while.

Your music being so much fun is what led me to attend my first ever music event at printworks and then Liquicity. Thank you for sticking with this idea. making and playing what you love, and not just djing or a doing a single genre that people might expect. It’s been awesome. I loved the live show at Liquicity. If someone asks me what I like to listen to, I will specifically mention you first. It's odd because I think of you as a singer-songwriter than anything else. One of the biggest things that's been so iconic and kept me listening is the vocals you've been using basically since you started as Stan SB. Calling is still one of my favorite songs (ever) and it starts with uke. I've been listening to you for over 10 years (since freakin middle school) and I don't see that stopping anytime soon. The only thing I could want is that you'll do a US tour someday so I could finally see you live.

Your fans are drawn to multiple aspects of your music, I don't think it's just the heavy bangers or just the vocal/melodic. The combination is what makes you unique in the EDM world. 1:51 I've always loved Stan's DnB ever since I was much younger, but it's more important to me as a fan of his work that he's having fun making music he wants to make than just _only_ producing the kind of stuff I personally gel with in terms of genres. In any entertainment based industry, not just music, I'm always hoping that the person who has made things I love is having actual fun with their passions instead of just cranking stuff out that's "expected". I can think of few things as heartbreaking as someone who is forced to step away from what they like making just because people wanted something else.

What I think makes a great artist, it's its determination to keep moving forward.
