Hey guys. The other night the crows and magpies were in the aviary and we were in the house getting dinner ready and all of the sudden I heard the birds cawing loudly and flying back and forth in the aviary. When I looked from the window I seen a fox circling by the aviary. It was trying to figure out if it could get an easy meal. So I ran outside and started yelling loudly and the fox took off. We do not leave the birds in the aviary over night so no wild animal could ever harm the birds. it would take quite awhile for anything to get in there and we are always around when they are in there.

He will get the birds if he wants to. He will tunnel under the fence. Why are they called wily as a fox? The best thing to do is make friends with the fox and leave something for him. A raw chicken leg. Dog food. Hot dogs. Even apples. They are only doing what they need to do to survive so the best thing to do is make friends. Put up a night camera like Blink. Great fun. We call ours the Foxcam. ps Be prepared for more foxes.

I pray for peace and protection for the birdies and protection for the wildlife as well ❤❤❤😢 Breaks my heart to see any animal killed just because they're considered 'nuisance animals'. Here in Missouri, people Intentionally kill opossums, armadillos, raccoons, woodchucks, beavers, groundhogs, voles, moles, snakes, mountain lions, bears, deer, coyotes, cats, dogs...horrifying and evil. 😢

I'm glad Cassie was on the alert. I'm happy the birds and the family are alright. Foxes are clever animals.

Foxes are so beautiful, swift, graceful. I have watched them play, and their precise jumping and spinning was ballet level. I have looked into their eyes and seen a strong, incisive intelligence. There were several regulars when I lived in a forest. Strangely, one of my Parrots was fascinated (rather than frightened) and since moving he has told me "go in the car and get the fox!" Glad all are safe❤

What an alarming story. Foxes are clever, quick - they can dig and squeeze through small spaces. They could get into that aviary faster than you expect. It would be safer to bring the birds in as soon as it begins to get dark, unless the guard pup is out there with them. Do take care. I am worried about your lovely family. Kassie is a hero!

Yes, we are always keeping a eye on them. It wasn't dark at all when the fox came by. Sun had just set. it was just surprising to see the fox before dark.

"These aren't chickens!" Deterrents are necessary, but murdering wildlife cause they see what might be an easy meal isn't. People here kill beavers for being beavers when they could be trapped an relocated instead and they are still very rare. At least its not coyotes! There would probably not be a fox as they'd kill it. And you'd hearem all the time.

Whoa Dennis and Kullike. A fox. Kassie is smart detecting something outside. It's good to follow up when doggie barks. I suppose there's no way the fox can dig underneath the aviary. You are right he wouldn't have time to dig coz you watch the birds, Kassie and Sonny Boy very well. If Kassie saw the fox she would run after it. Actually, the fox upon seeing Kassie or you guys the fox would have taken off. They are usually very elusive. They don't usually come around ppl. Food must be scarce out in the bush yet. The fox would go after rabbits. Good you are aware of the fox now. Fox alert!

Yes, we don't leave the birds alone very long. One of us and the pup are usually outside but we were all in the house and then seen the fox by the aviary. Nothing would have the time needed to get in there.

Rats would be much more dangerous for the birds than a fox. But, do not underestimate the fox. He can undermine the fence !!!
