Greg, I want to applaud you on your professionalism during the interview when the “chat party” started up behind you and you had to turn up and down your on volume so it wouldn’t pick up all the “gaggleing “! Very rude of the staff back there. Anyway thank you for the info. I never knew about that zone out there.

I’m not hearing why this is a real threat. The heating of the seafloor on the Pacific plate in the ring of fire is nearly all heated up. There is such an increase of heating from underneath all around the globe that volcanoes are erupting fires are breaking out, and we’ve just seen the beginning of sights that will cause men’s heart to fail.

I was thinking the same thing! How they’re all related and how the fact that the underwater volcano is acting up it’s just an indication and part of the surrounding region. I wish they would give more information on the three sisters.

I kinda felt like this was a "click bait" segment once she started talking about how this volcano would literally have no impact whatsoever on Oregon or the safety of its people at all. 🤔🙄👎 Having said that, I still found this interesting from a science / knowledge point of view. 👍👍
@dandonaldson91493 сағат бұрын
It doesn't say it will have any impact on the people of Oregon, so I'd blame previous clickbait. The story delivered exactly what it said it would.
@blackbird282520 сағат бұрын
This doesn’t matter. The City will just ticket the volcano and let it back out on the streets of Portland anyway. Zero accountability.

I would like to know if there is a correlation between global warming and volcanic activity, including the data of the magma being closer to the surface, over the past 150 years.
@Macckk10014 сағат бұрын
Oh yes volcanoes have changed earth's climate. Mount Pinatubo was the most recent one that affected the worldwide climate.
@MrMscotth7 сағат бұрын
150 years isn't far enough back. There is a correlation between volcanism and global warming. Volcanoes can and have caused problems. Near extinctions. Volcanism could exterminate us. Luckily there is no sign of this happening soon. Not sure if there would be a clear sign and what the recommended course would be to minimize or avert volcanism. .However the climate changes we are are experiencing are entirely anthropogenic. We are doing this. And this path is not sustainable.

We don't really know what kind of connection this volcano has with the plate movements... It seems to be at the edge of a plate so it might be a pressure release for it. I think the oooozy nature of the magma is interesting. I wouldn't disregard this volcano just because it seems separate from the subduction zone.

Great professionalism by the scientist, resting her head in her hands, not sitting up straight, wearing a T-Shirt, not knowing the distance from the Coast (She was invited ahead of time, right?), not knowing the depth in the ocean, not using the standards of lava nomenclature and instead describing the lava as "ooozie". Her lack of data and professionalism doesn't bring trust in her presentation.

There's been an uptick lately, a few tremors so then they always do this, prob good cos Oregon is in noncompliance with the Cascadia Riding Plan that Cali and WA did, but Oregon was like Nahhh, so the state is totally unprepared and so are individuals.... its way past due per its usual cycle, but its on geological time, not human time so... but it'll eventually blow, lets hope its catastrophic when it does, it will take many many feet of ash to cover up all the Wokeness and bury that hellhole called Portland and good f*ng riddance!

Right off the bat this interview feels bogus or purposefully down played. If you're being interviewed about a topic how do you not even know something as simple as its specific distance away from the coast? Also, anyone who wants to can do research on tectonic plate movement to determine that general plate movement between pacific and north american are opposite with pacific subducting under north american. Juan de fuca is a much smaller plate wedged between these. Think of their association and movement like gears. Pacific rotating counter clockwise and north america clockwise, at least at the point where they meet. Juan de fuca is dangerous because its surrounded by other moving plates and is trying to move in one direction on one side but because the plates are shaped nothing like gears pressure builds up until there is slippage or until the pressure is great enough to force the edge of one plate under the other (subduction). Pacific and Juan de fuca, based on long time geologic science are not moving away from one another. Not like the mid atlantic ridge. So while this "sea mount" is on the other side of juan de fuca from us. I think this still poses serious concerns and should motivate people along the coast to revisit their tsunami preparedness action plans.
