They DO celebrate .....AFTERWARDS .....when they "party". THIS is a ceremony ......NOT THE PLACE TO CELEBRATE!!!! The "rule" is probably in place from a previous incident of someone getting carried away .....so they may have been forced to make the rule. Try to think outside the box. Many commenter wants to display sympathy for this teen and suggest the school is in the wrong. WHAT???? There was a rule. It was very clearly explained to the graduating class. THERE. IT WAS EXPLAINED!!! DONE ......and everyone else FOLLOWED the rule. Now the teen decides to ignore the rule just explained to her .....and "mommy" ....who has NOTHING to do with the school OR graduating class, makes the opinionated statement "...it is "2023....". What does that mean? Anything at all? Nope. It is just mommy mouthing off ......so now we know where daughter gets it from. I 100% DISAGREE WITH MOST EVERY ONE OF THE COMMENTERS. Every one of the graduating class is following the rule .....and this one CLOWN thinks the rule does not apply to her. THERE IS ONE IN EVERY CLASS. AND, I'll point out, the rule is there, very likely because of a past incident of someone getting carried away with some kind of dancing. There are REASONS for rules. People don't just create rules for the sake of creating rules. Is this little CLOWN going to go through life ignoring rules? Hafsah Abdur-Rahman then has the audacity to say "She (the principal) stole that moment from me. I will never get that again." YES. THAT'S CALLED THE CONSEQUENCE OF YOUR ACTIONS. You're supposed to educated. It looks like this little girl didn't comprehend everything during her education. Rules apply to everyone else ....not her. It seems most commenters think the school and the rule is wrong. It has NOTHING to do with the principal. It is the rule of the school that EVERYONE is expected to follow. Don't try to put the blame on anyone else ....and stop with all the excuses. She DID receive her diploma. .

Maybe they should redo the graduation. Even those that got their diplomas were harmed by this. What a bad memory of what should be positive for life. Sad. What a disgrace. The poor parents too. They have to hold back cheers for their child? That is like telling them not to blink their eyes or breathe. That is not normal. Something is not right with this principal. I recall this rule of no noise starting when I was in high school over 10 years ago. It was stupid then and it's stupid now. What point did she make by withholding their diplomas? That joy doesn't exist, that you cannot be praised for your hard work...? My mother passed while I was in my sophomore year, my father called me his problem child and embarrassment, so he refused to come to my graduation....I still went and held my head up high...I still graduated and that meant something to me. When someone makes weird rules, they need to be held accountable. What meds is that principal taking?
@TheRorschack
@TheRorschack Жыл бұрын
The rule is there to not disrupt the ceremony for the next student. These ceremonies are usually held in special venues where they have a set time in the space. Dancing causes extra cheering that would drown out the next students moment to walk across the stage. Holding the next students moment off every time someone wants to do some extra shit isnt a possibility because of time constraints that are outside of the schools control. If you sit down and think for like...2 seconds...its pretty obvious why the rule is in place. I dont like it. I dont get why the venues cant just allow for some extra time in between ceremonies for stuff like this. Whatever it is ot almost certainly ties back to money. But the logic behind the school setting this rule, probably before this principal was ever principal...is sound. And its absolutely selfish to think youre above everyone else and can dance across the stage if you were told thats not allowed. Go dance at one of the parties afterwards. You know what graduation is for? Its not for you. Its for your family. At my graduation every single one of us was just ready to get the bullshit outta the way so we could go live it up with our friends at the after parties. But we were all there because our families all came out to see it.

@TheRorschack

Not even close. This students family needs to be sued for defamation. Crying racism because you knowingly broke a rule doesnt fly sport. Now think...use that brain of yours...what happens when you do things like dance across the stage? More cheering occurs. And what do you think happens when more cheering occurs? Its a disruption to an already rehearsed ceremony...now, this is gonna be hard for someone like you to follow so pay close attention on this one...the school is under this magical little thing called a "time constraint" because the ceremony is being held in a special venue. Which means the school and principal have no control over that time constraint...that means they HAVE to be done by a specific time and disruptions to the ceremony means the ceremony might not be able to be finished. So they HAVE to keep going on with reading the names. That means all the extra cheering you caused by dancing across the stage drowns out the next students moment and ruins it for them. All because you thought you were a special snowflake. Welcome back to reality where racism doesnt motivate the majority of people like you seem to believe it does...i wonder why that is? Perhaps its because YOURE the racist? Just a thought, there must be some reason youre projecting it onto everyone right?

You know it is really interesting. 175 year history. Lets do the math 175 years ago they would not have been in attendance. The policy needs to berevoked and the principal needs to be fired. She could not go to an affluent neighborhood and do this yet she did it there. Yes the state needs to write her up and suspend her for the Summer. What she did was rude and hurtful to all the families who had to watch this playout and the children.

This was the Principal's last spiteful power trip moment. Trying to negatively influence these children's lives. She is for sure getting off on it watching the videos and feeling happy about her achievement. Sick sick sick... She should be happy for the students and encourage them to show how proud they are of what they've achieved and assure them they are ready to take on other challenges too. Unfortunately, she did not get that memo (I am here to help these children grow) when she became Principle!

Not at all. This was a selfish student getting what she deserved. Its well documented that doing extra shit on the stage at these ceremonies causes more cheering. This is a disruption to the flow of the ceremony which is under time constraints set by the venue its being held in...not the school that its for...so they HAVE to keep reading because this is already rehearsed and timed on their part. If they hold it up for everybody to cheer some more the ceremony isnt able to be finished. So naturally all the extra cheering drowns out the next students moment to walk across the stage. If you stop and think for like...a second...it makes a lot of sense why the rule is in place. And the student admits she was well informed of the rule. So she KNOWINGLY broke the rule because she thought she was better than the other students there. She found out really fast that she isnt better than anyone else. Be smarter than this sport.

All four times it tripled the graduation ceremony time. The schools have to constantly stop till the crowd calms down. Your more then welcome to celebrate at your homes and parties afterwards. I thought the Gritty meant twerking or something. I think allowing each student applause time after their name is called and while they are walking back to their seat is reasonable. No applause is unreasonable for such a special occasion. I understand not breaking the rules, but the rules must first be given - like you must walk normally and not do anything to amuse the audience. Still, I think graduation ceremony reform is needed. Note to self: Be that parent who starts a petition to gather signatures from all of the parents in my child's graduating class demanding to allow applause.😁
