I’ve been involved in public safety for years. I’ve never known a department to lease or have loans on municipal vehicles maybe administrative type but not for emergency vehicles. Every department I’ve worked for both fire and law enforcement have a strict vehicle replacement protocol based a set or criteria and every year at budget time the department head will say we need x amount of vehicles to replace these vehicles. Now fire trucks that can cost 100s of thousands it’s a multi year thing and it’s not just we need a new fire truck kinda deal.
