Monroe's vintage military cargo plane 'Tinker Belle' finds new home

I saw this C-46 at Yeager Airport a few years ago. The C-46 has a special place in my heart because when my Mom was pregnant with me she still was working at the Curtiss Wright aircraft plant in Louisville, Kentucky during the last several months of WWII installing wiring harness’s on the R2800 engines. Ever since I was a kid I have loved airplanes and eventual retired from the Air Force with 31 years service. So glad this C-46 will be well taken care of in the future ! She’s big and beautiful !!!

Buffalo Airways of Yellowknife NWT still flies the C46...I bet Buffalo Joe has parts for this C46

MMmmmmm maybe yes maybe no. Commando parts are very hard to find. I remember two events of Ice Pilots involving C-46 parts. One was a damaged wingtip in Northern Ontario that was replaced with a tip from Africa, and another was the need for exhaust parts from a CAF C-46 operator in California that were useless. Jerry Yagen, have a good time with Tinker Belle.
