This is as unacceptable as it is terrifying for all involved. Rising young actress Rebecca Schaeffer was shot and killed by a male fan while answering her front door in July 1989. John Lennon had an obsessed fan who broke into his house and who eventually left without threat or harm, but Lennon was later assassinated on 8 December 1980 by a fan who wanted attention. These incidents have to be taken VERY seriously, and people who want to act out on their obsessions need to be locked up to protect the public.
