Staying inside would not help you from chloride (commonly known as chlorine) used for swimming pools if it is on fire because chlorine is a strong oxidizer, meaning it can support combustion even though it doesn't burn itself, and fumes can easily spread indoors, making it crucial to evacuate the area immediately if a chlorine fire occurs.

With all the chemical industry knowledge we have there will always be some idiots that mess things up. When your fire suppression system is the cause of the fire, your safety manager needs to be fired. The building fire code is not adequate for what the building is being used for. How did they obtain a permit to store that much oxidizer at that facility? Your City need to revamp the fire codes, that's inexcusable.

They dispense CO2 or Foam or other media like sodium bicarbonate or sodium ascorbate 3. They’re not doing a very good job at keeping us informed. I am 80 miles north of the chemical plant yet I received an alert from the Georgia Emergency Management Agency on my iPhone that our area may be affected. I tried to find a current map of how far the smoke/haze has spread but can’t find one. Can’t find any info for our area, either 🤷‍♀️

At least not the ones they were wearing. But I guess not being able to afford the real deal they were still able to have a psychologically relaxing mask of some sort. Often people emotionally feel better doing something, even if the effect of that something is otherwise nil.

How in the Hell do you become a fire chief yet cannot pronounce the simplest of words? I tell ya, this country of ours is GONE and I mean GONE! Good job chief, keep butchering your words as it appears to be socially acceptable. I know you went to school just as I did, yet somehow your interpretation of pronunciations and mine along with Websters dictionary seem to differ. LMMFAO
