1:20 "... so there is no direct sunlight, only natural light..." Ummm... what??" Does that guy not understand that sunlight IS natural light?
@raid553 ай бұрын
Natural Light: "a lighting source that closely replicates natural sunlight can be considered a natural light source" You don't understand what natural light is, because the term can be confusing. It does not imply that the light is natural, rather that the lighting feels natural. The stadium is built with its back to the sun, so that it never shines through the open glass side. Light, after emitted from the sun, bounces around on buildings, the ground, and just about anything, that light then eventually enters the stadium through the open glass and naturally fills the space with light. But you cannot confuse it with direct sunlight, as that would imply having a direct path with the sun. Outdoor stadiums are "sunlit" during the day and "floodlit" during the night, this stadium would be "naturally lit" during the day and "screen lit" at night (the giant wrap around screen). If the roof was made of glass, and the sun directly shined in, it would indeed be "sunlight". I hope I could clear some of your confusion with sunlight and natural light in indoor and outdoor spaces. NOW, i should preface that I am using the term "Natural light" in its industry term, as the caster was also using the industry term. (industry term meaning when talking about complexes, apartments, and any building/structure). If you interpret natural light as sunlight by the basic and raw definition of the word "natural", then there is no such thing as "artificial light". Since all light is made of the same thing no mater its source (photons) and is all "natural" in the sense of the word, light cannot be selectively natural and unnatural, making your point in that scenario also pointless, since it would be like saying "ummm what? does that guy not know that air conditioning air IS just natural air?"
@CrabbyOldLady3 ай бұрын
@@raid55 "nat·u·ral /ˈnaCHər(ə)l,ˈnaCHr(ə)l/ adjective 1. existing in or caused by nature; not made or caused by humankind." You don't understand what natural is. Nice little misguided attempt at condescension and faux expertise, but there is no light more natural than sunlight. The hysterically funny thing about your comment is that you completely failed to understand that the speaker WAS REFERRING TO SUNLIGHT IN BOTH CASES. In one instance, it was direct sunlight. In the other it was reflected. Your whole nonsensical reference to industry terms about artificial light that replicates sunlight has absolutely nothing to do with anything in this case. Listening comprehension and critical thinking are utterly lacking in your laughable response, little fellow. 🤣🤣🤣

@@CrabbyOldLady sure thing. I did not attack you, I did not attack the caster, i did not attack anyone in my statment, just stating what I have learned and adding context to your argument. You're comment is condescending, making fun of a caster who does their job, and reports on what has been told to them by their research team. You are reluctant to see any other point of view, and believe that the construction industry uses the word natural for different meanings. You edit your comment when you realize i was talking about something else and double down on tearing my explanation down instead of understanding and/or debating the nuance. You call me names, and belittle me. The truth, is that arguments like these are condescending, are hypocritical, and do not want to get into any type of conversation that might challenge what they state. You assume everyone is out to get you and that I'm trying to misguide and condescend, that my expertise is "faux" which means false in french, and that my critical thinking was "utterly lacking". (whats funny is that using the definition of "natural" on its own instead of the phrase "natural light" in the context of buildings/construction is a clear lapse in critical thinking on your part, you can't selectively create definitions for phrases that have been in use for the last century, google "natural light" in the context of construction projects). You don't have to be like that. you dont have to be mean, or rude, or be dismissive. You can politely disagree with people, you can constructively add to my argument if i made a mistake in my breakdown, hell even ignoring me is more polite than replying in a hostile manner. You can be better than what you have displayed. My comment may have been dry in its emotion but I was trying to explain things the best I can, but notice that even when i question your thinking i used the term "lapse", which means that it was just a momentary fault in your judgment instead of a constant lack, which is much nicer than just saying you are completely absent of it. Please do better in the future, and stop thinking the world is out to get you, i was just trying to help both you, and the caster's credibility, so that instead of tearing each other down we can see the better side of things, the lighter side (pun intended).

I actually feel bad for Las Vegas. They should get a expansion franchise. Nobody wants anything to do with John Fisher and the Athletics. Everyone knows he will not spend money on his team to win.

A lot of bitter Oaklanders in the comments. Your city government is at least somewhat to blame… they’ve lost you 3 teams in less than a decade. 🤷🏼♂️

The two other stadiums in Las Vegas are among the most profitable in the world with Allegiant Stadium being number one. So it kind of think so.
@geezerpleasers_OG2 ай бұрын
Yes, because baseball team owners make their real money on the capital appreciation of the franchise. That's why no owner in the last 70 years has ultimately lost money on their team. Think of it this way. You own a piece of farmland. You don't even farm it for 20 years. You pay property taxes and other expenses for 20 years, and then sell it for 10 times what you paid for it. You supposedly lost money every year, but in fact you had a positive total return every year because the gain in principal value always dwarfed the negative revenue stream. That's what's been happening in baseball all along. When Fisher eventually sells the team, he'll make a killing.

Ask yourselves this Las Vegas, how many stadium renderings has the Oakland A’s put out since John Fisher became majority owner of that team? Then ask yourself how many times did any of them get built? Then ask yourselves how many times did a man worth over 6 billion dollars want to provide any of his own money towards the stadium? See the pattern here? There’s a reason why that man is the worst owner in professional sports and the ultimate cheapskate. We, as Las Vegas residents, Do Not need that man taking his team here and taking money away from public education. Not by any means at all. And to answer the questions he and the A’s have had at least 5 stadium renderings and proposals in and around the Bay Area with him putting ZERO dollars towards any of it, instead relying on local tax payers to foot the bill for a billionaires team. And none of his renderings weren’t anything but a pipe dream on a piece of paper. Don’t let that man sell you on moving his team to our city. We’re also the 40th largest media market in the country, and with regional sports TV contracts dissolving by the day across the country, I honestly don’t see this happening at all. MLB would be better off taking ownership of this team and moving them to Montreal or Nashville and be done with John Fisher for good.

@mikecumbo75313 ай бұрын
Why not have MLB take the team over and stay in Oakland until they find an owner willing to keep the team there? The A’s & Comcast still have a TV deal. Aren’t there several locations for a new stadium that the current owner has rejected or let lapse?

I really hope this does blow up in Fisher's face. As cool as the stadium looks, for the long term... theres no upgrades you could do really. When Miller Park was made in 2001, it has tons of upgrade opportunities, and still does. What do you upgrade in 5 years here? Plus, money... its all about money, which is a big problem for a stadium this expensive

Good riddance Oakland, you deserve better. Your fan base in a Oakland was only a trickle when it takes a river of high priced ticket sales to cover all the costs of running the stadium and paying to hire and keep quality and skilled players, coaches, and staff

That view of the skyline assumes there isn’t a big hotel right in the way. Last they described it, the site was in the southeast corner of the lot. So pretty much impossible there’s nothing in the way, if they hold to that location.

You people still have a video from your Fox 2 you can comment on which currently has all of 2 comments, but this site is Vegas based and I know I speak for others when I say you from NorCal are not welcome to infest our Vegas sites with your anger and bitterness.
