It's a double edge sword either the price of the manufactured home MAYBE reasonable or the space rent. But by no means is it affortable!

While the rich get richer our homes get thinner and thinner with no land ownership underneath. Charming world we live in.

One thing this report forgot to mention is some insurance companies won’t insure mobile homes! If someone does get insurance it’s very expensive!

Trailer Parks are disaster magnets. Tornadoes seem to have a taste for them. But it’s a start step to a real house.

“The lot spade rent is $1125 a month” 😬 plus the mortgage. Yeah not a good deal

Poor blanket statement. Let's say your space rent is 1150 a month. Your mortgage on the mobile home is 900 a month. You get a home (not an apartment with shared walls), privacy, and most likely more living space for just over 2000 a month. Have you seen what you can get for 2000 a month apartment rent? Go look...You can't just make a blanket statement and apply it to all situations. I am much happier paying 2000 a month for 3 bedrooms and 2 baths in 1405 square feet instead of 1900 for one bedroom, 1 bath in 600 square feet.

I bought a factory home (Mobile Home) for the first time in my life 5 years ago. It is a good route to go. I had the option of either paying 1650 a month rent for a one bedroom apartment, no parking space, and roaches/rats or....3 bedrooms, 2 baths, a yard, a pool, no vermin, gated community, security cameras in a better neighborhood for 2000 a month. That was 5 years ago. What does that one bedroom cost now? They are renting it for 1900 a month. Tell me a factory home was not a better option for my family. I suggest renting in a "Moble home rent controlled city" such as Santee if you can't afford your own land. You will see very stable rent prices. The worst part of buying is the loan. You can't get conventional funding unless you are buying a house and the land under it. If you purchase a home in a park with rent, you will need a Chattel Loan...The rates SUCK!
