💯💯💯💯 what makes people think they can have sex for entertainment, have children by men who don’t love them, have 0 work skills, get on welfare, live in section 8, have no men in house, don’t comb your hair, AND EXPECT the state?? To raise your kids??? Omg! Personal responsibility is at an all time low. I’m embarrassed for her. Not sorry for her sorry able bodied ass with the cigarette rasp. Just embarsssed…. @@kevinc3342 We had a black president. Did the school systems in black neighborhoods improve under Obama? The head of the Baltimore school system is a black woman. There are black people in congress and the supreme court. Affirmative action became law in 1965. These schools have $21,000 per student. That is more than the public schools in my area. Discipline is enforced in white majority schools but not black majority schools. The mother mentioned that her kids are afraid to go to school. Can kids focus on learning when they are afraid of being assaulted? Is there crime outside the schools? Is there crime inside the schools? Are the criminals being removed from the area of the schools? Which political party refuses to enforce laws especially in black neighborhoods?

I never left it up to the school to educate my child. While I carried her in my womb, I engaged with her. After she was born, everything we did with her was about stimulating her brain and learning. From a very early age, the library was our second home, and I made sure that she knew what she needed to know at whatever age she was and then some. Parents, the school might introduce some things to your child(ren), BUT ultimately it is your responsibility to ensure your child(ren) is on par for whatever grade they are in. Kudos to mom for reaching out to the school to voice her concerns. However, I can't help but wonder what she was doing at home. I hope she understands that it will take more than moving or holding her son back for him to catch up. It's going to take a lot of work from both of them.

My mom was the same way!!!During the summer months we practically lived at the library too, and was apart of the summer reading book club. Growing up I would be so mad at my mom for keeping us in the library, but now that I am older I thank her dearly. I have learned so much on my own simply by reading books, but to know there are people my age who did not have the same experiences and are now passing that down to the next generation. It’s sad that some parents do not put much emphasis on reading books, especially when nowadays you can practically get them for free. Every time I turn around someone is having a book drive or donating them to the schools.

I’m a parent of a HS senior. My daughter began reading at the age of 4 BEFORE attending kindergarten. She was able to read at a young age because I valued reading and education even while she was in the womb. I read to her before and after she was born and bought her TONS of books. If books are too expensive then library cards are free. These parents need to start instilling a love of reading and education into their children even before they are born. You are your child’s primary teacher and no one else will take responsibility for their learning the way you can and should. I was NEVER worried about my black daughter not being able to read because that simply wasn’t an option for us. The school system isn’t responsible for her ability to read because I made sure I took care of that myself. Absolutely. This is really caused by growing up in an environment where there is no reading material and the adults don’t model the behavior of reading. My grandmother used to read to us, then my parents took me to Episcopal services where I saw all of the adults reading aloud from the 1928 Book of Common prayer, a literary masterpiece originally written by Thomas Cranmer, reformation Archbishop of Canterbury, and then finally my parents enrolled me in a book club where I could order books which looked interesting to me. The notion that the schools can teach everyone to read is ridiculous. For one thing, elementary education majors are among the least academically talented of all college graduates. I taught parochial school as a secondary social studies major with a concentration in European history and it was painfully obvious that the typical primary grades teacher was not exactly a mental giant. True, they can read, but to a great extent they are not actually readers. Then also they typically didn’t like math very much either. Women go into grade school teaching because pathetically, they think that little kids are “cute”. The normal adult really isn’t all that enthralled with little kids, finds them dull, and in particular is disgusted by spoiled brats.

I struggled a lot as a kid and my parents sat with me and or my siblings every night if needed to make sure we were progressing and learning! And in the summer time my Mother took it upon herself and got work books and assignment sheets that we were instructed to do along with our chores and reading! Parents need to step up as well and stop just blaming the schools! I have been in a few of these schools and let me tell you… The kids are constantly screaming at the teachers, not listening, I saw a little boy kick a hole in a wall and his Mother was there too! She yelled at them saying all of it is their fault! This was at the elementary level! How can they teach when they are constantly trying to regain their attention because of how poor their behavior is! Those teacher are raising those kids! That poor behavior comes from home and a lack of supervision and accountability! Don’t even get me started on the High schools! Teachers being threatened and screamed at all day! Kids just doing what they want bc they are told they can and are allowed to do so! Kids are treated as adults now with just about all the freedoms that come with it! Phones,the internet, Ubers, door dash, open air drug markets, and just about no body tells them no! And now when they do they get threatened or you aren’t Allowed to hurt their poor little feelings anymore! The Elephant in the Room of the whole situation is a lack of parenting and support from home! Parents need to step up and get involved in their children’s education and become present and stop worrying about what’s on social media, or going out! Another huge thing that is lacking being taught at home is a work ethic! This is what happens when every wants to make everything easy and “Fair” for everyone and not hurt feelings with not using red pens or letter grades! GTFOOH! Life is hard and it isn’t fair! Moms, (those who rely on their children's teachers to teach them basic ed) get out of bed (off your butt), go to the teacher's supply store, and pick up basic materials, like flashcards, with alphabets and numbers. There are phonics systems that you can also get at a minimal cost, that need to be shared with your children, while they're still babbling. Don't wait until they're in school. Learning begins at home. My son, a high-ranking US Marine is 40, and he was reading at 3. My daughter is 24, working on her Masters, and she too was reading at 3, playing the violin, in ballet, and had her own little computer. The flashcards could very well be a learning tool for those adults that have difficulty reading. And for those who can read, read to your children, and purchase them children's books 📚 No one should be crying like this while blaming someone else for what they're obligated to do. This is sad. 😟

@regina cameron Amen, this is my point. I too was a single mom with my son, and when he was around 5, his teacher and principal reached out to me and told me that maybe he needed to be on Ritalin, because he was so hyperactive and unfocused, in Kindergarten. Well, I immediately shot back in defense, and let them know that if he wasn't focused, it was because his instructor was incompetent, and just maybe they needed to lay off the Ritalin. He was already reading and doing math before he entered school. Within weeks, of being approved for the Houston Preparatory Academy, he was removed from that school. Because his little mind was now being challenged, he excelled, was focused, excited about school, and admired his dedicated teacher. Within a year, he was testing 3-grade levels higher, with a more advanced curriculum. During their early education, I challenged the teachers, and always wanted to know what they were currently doing in the classroom, so I could also get involved at home. Both my children were honors students, and my daughter continues to be. Anyway, God bless you, and thanks for sharing. You're a testimony 🙌 🕊

Wow….this is so sad! I live in California and a teacher from Baltimore started teaching (math) at my sons private school….let’s just say the teacher needed further education! When I asked why my sons grade went from a ‘B’ average to a ‘D’ she could not formulate a sentence to explain why. Both sons were in tutoring, expressing their concerns & needs but to no avail. I was their as the parent for back up and full support of my sons! The principal intervened but she wasn’t much better to say the least but the teacher was fired eventually! Sadly, this POOR BEHAVIOR & PERFOFMANCE from leaders is nothing new for BALTIMORE schools, the community, etc.

Here’s what’s really messed up about this. I have 3 kids, I bought them all Amazon Fire 7” tables and my 2 sons who are 5 and 6 learned how to read and write without pre-k playing games. I then went to the BackMarket app and bough them all USED 1st gen I-pads at $50 an iPad and now my 5-6yr old sons can read and write at a 2nd grade level, do math, and write in cursive. I live in a city where the best school is 4/10 rated. $50 an IPad. A couple of minutes of my time to help them if they get stuck. That’s how much it cost to educate a child in the 21century better than a public school. So WTF is our money doing in these schools?
@collinhennessy6558
@collinhennessy6558 Жыл бұрын
Those children need fathers first and foremost. You can put more money into the schools, you can pay for all the tutors and counselors money can buy, you can enroll the kids in as many after school and sports programs as they can handle, so they have no idle time and lots of positive adult role models, and it won't make any difference. You can easily Google studies that show just how bad growing up without their biological father in the home really fucks a kid up, and we know that the behavior of women and children is highly influenced by their surroundings. So when you have a school where all the students are from homes with single mothers who were raised by single mothers who were raised by single mothers, it's a recipe for disaster.

It's hard to learn anything in a classroom that is not conductive to learning. With all the students fighting causing trouble in these schools how can anyone learn, and if you try to get rid of the trouble makers you have their parents on you. If you want to fix the school start with getting rid of the trouble makers usually there are just a few who are the leaders that everyone else follows git rid of those few the others will settle down and you can finally teach. I have talked with teachers who have taught at these schools and basically they say the same thing teachers have lost control and the school boards refuse to listen

This will only get worse for the phone generation in poor cities. I can't blame the school because you should be reading before attending. I am a product of this system, and I understand it. There are many factors in a city like Baltimore and most urban cities. There needs to be higher standards in the homes to produce successful students. The problems are well-engrained into the communities and begin long before and after the school bell rings. Accountability starts at home. If every student in only one class showed up attentive and ready to learn, the entire system would be shocked. If you look at every report on the failure of pretty every school system, you here the quote, "The parents blame the_______." When do you start to ask the parents what are you doing at home to fix the issue?

Sadly, it has to be sought and there are inexpensive resources to aid the child. It will take time from the parent and other but the children need it.
