Baltimore insider claims city leaders misleading about police staffing crisis

The police staffing shortage at the Baltimore Police Department is the focus once again, as someone who could be considered an insider, suggests City Hall and BPD leaders are not being completely honest about what's driving the shortage.
BPD is struggling with retaining officers as well as recruiting officers to fill vacancies--which is at about 700 according to the police union--calling it a national problem.

People don't realize that at protests and rioting supervisors order cops to do something that gets them in trouble. Then the supervisors say we never gave that order. I know first hand I am retired NYPD cop look at Eric Garner the black criminal. They blame the cop for his actions well he was there with 2 supervisors. But they blamed the cop then why have supervisors if they are going to wash their hands like they weren't in charge. And then the department and mayor kiss the guy's family ass for him resisting arrest for the 31st time. And headquarters sent those cops there and they denied it till the 311 recording was released

i was fired from the academy in Baltimore 2 weeks before graduation, for months i been trying to figure out the reason why they wont even tell me. i genuinely cared about having a positive impact on the community. the way they treated me in the past few month trying to get an answer as to why they fired me made me feel extremely bad for Baltimore city residents. who would want to join a dept that can ruin your whole future and not be told why they are doing it

They should’ve never changed the retirement time. When you change the retirement time from 20 years to 25 and or more you will get a lot of people getting out simply because they fear it may change again. That’s one of the main reasons they are getting out and you have a shortage. The union should’ve never allowed this to happen.

Easy fix. Take a carry class, get your permit, become your own first responder. You dont have to kill people unless they have a firearm themselves. They come at you with a knife take a knee out or arm. Usually when you pull a weapon on a punk progressing on you they will run. But take a class and learn the rules and laws to engagement of Maryland. I give you a freebee, we are a Duty to Retreat. That means while youre trying to remove yourself from the situation you are legally in your right to brandish which can lead to using your weapon to stop the threat if they are processing or following you. We already know what's driving the officer shortage. To start with they were defunded and on top of that they have been used, abused and disrespected by the Democrat politicians and most of the Democrat citizenry and aren't going to take it anymore. They can go work in a Republican run city where they would be respected, make more money and increase the chances that they will make it back home at the end of their shift. In those cities the criminals are held responsible for the crimes they commit and are locked up if that is what's required to maintain the peace and law and order.
