I think so, too. I’d like to know why he was taking a tricyclic antidepressant because combining that with an opiate can lead to fatal heart block. Was he prescribed it or did he somehow get it on the street? I thought it might have been cocaine related but they never mentioned that drug. His autopsy results should solve the mystery

@codyherman29772 жыл бұрын
Well yea. That wouldn’t get any ratings. It’s a business after all that relies on viewers. No one wants to turn on the news and see that John Doe died from an overdose last night. They’d instantly turn the channel. Celebrities get views and ratings that news companies survive on. Kind of common sense. It’s not a slap in the face to the homeless guy that died yesterday. His heart doubled in size, thats myocarditis, it's not a drug overdose that primarily killed him. Anything else that causes myocarditis around?. Toxicology reports do not state how much drugs Hawkins had in his body, also Columbian toxicology reports are pretty inaccurate. It's only with chronic drug abuse that that would happen, I don't think Taylor Hawkins was engaging in anything other than recreational use, he couldn't have functioned as a chronic abuser. Myocarditis killed him primarily, gone way too young.

At this point Taylor had chest pains and past away very quickly. That would point to a heart attack. That's different than your heart stopping from an opioid overdose. First and most importantly.. So for all we know, he could've just had a massive heart attack without drugs being a direct factor..

Dr Drew is absolutely correct in EVERYTHING he says about the disease of addiction. I survived a massive electrical burn accident where I became an opiate addict. I was able to kick it, so hard, with the help of THC. Now I’m a f@€king secret THC addict, and I hate it! I can’t afford treatment or exposure of my addiction out of fear of losing everything. So I’m a high functioning stoner. Yes, I’m a musician/artist. WTF is wrong with us? My sister died of opiate addiction/overdose. One brother is a severe alcoholic. Another struggles with THC as well. God, please come save us from ourselves!

Unfortunately it all goes back to mental health and finding a way to escape all the tricks of the brain plays. Its definitely cliche to blame mental health but if you break down addiction, it always goes back to trying to replace something with numbness of real life. Zappa was telling us this way back in the 70's yet unfortunately nobody listened.

I honestly think that Taylor was not depressed. Of course, I don't know this, but judging from the pure joy he exudes, this is what I think. I also just think he needed some assistance in getting to a more elevated, high-energy state to maintain his physical energy while drumming. Also, he openly says he enjoyed it while partying. I think he loved and valued his life, but his bio-chemistry needed a booster. I never thought it would end this way. Rest in Peace Taylor...

I spent most of my life high on one thing or another and I have very few regrets. But what kept me from completely sliding off the edge during the darker times was the fact that I didn't "identify" as an artist/musician/whatever, I Identified as a person who was good at some things and crappy at others. At 72 I'm no stranger to drug addiction and alcoholism. We all try to help those who are unwilling to help themselves but what I've learned, and forgive me for expressing the cold, hard truth, is sometimes we need to simply let them go. Addicts and drunks suck when they're under the influence and a very real potential danger to society and they can be downright unpleasant when they're sober. They put us, their friends and loved ones, through an emotional and many times a financial wringer that only ends when they take themselves out leaving us emotionally drained, heart sick and poorer. What I've learned is we can't save everyone. We are responsible for our own welfare and if a person can't control themself, if they can't be a functioning and contributing member of society then so be it.....let survival of the fittest run its course. While it is sad to hear of someone dying from drugs and/or alcohol, just keep in mind that this was done by their own hand.

There is a lot going on with this problem that people don't necessarily talk about. Even your average, literate, basically educated person with some common sense can figure out that drugs are bad, kids, mmkay. It is not easy for a lot of people to make it in this world, most of us aren't rock stars. Most of us don't have the resources to ride to anyone's rescue. It's challenging enough to pay for school, it's hard to find a good job these days, there is a lot of chaos and crime. The main argument against getting into partying so hard is that if you get hooked, the bank doesn't care. Your employer doesn't care, the landlord and local grocer, and the utilities don't care about your problems. They all need their money. That is what is going on. If you are one of the few who recover from addiction, congratulations you made it back to average and normal. Recovery from addiction does not substitute for achievement. Any of my friends or family becoming addicted, I can't help them. No you can't crash "for a couple days.." No you can't 'borrow' any money. And no, I don't believe anything you are telling me. Something that's also telling is that rehab is crazy expensive, too. At some point in time we are all adults and responsible for the decisions we make and the actions we take. Handling our own problems, our own business is not "giving up" on them either.

It makes me really sad that Taylor's non participation in any kind of meaningful recovery wasn't taken more seriously by the people around him. He was in a coma for TWO WEEKS. That's cause for lifetime monitoring and daily check ins and maintenance and when you read him saying in interviews that he still loves taking drugs and he won't confirm one way or another whether he is sober, these are glaring red flags that should have been paid attention to and action taken in response. Please God let someone out there who knows someone who is struggling see the importance of structured recovery and completely abstaining from any kind of recreational mind altering chemical for addicts. There is NO other way to stay alive and be safe. Period. There just isn't. And, just a side note here, but Columbia might not have been the best place for him to be, given his history. The drugs are everywhere and they are strong and pure. Clearly a recipe for disaster.

Sorry! Fentanyl is so extremely powerful. I`ve been given this drug twice and told it was something else and know first hand that it packs a dangerous punch. I suffer from chronic pain and was a frequent illegal drugs and alcohol abuser and musician since the early 1980s. By the 2000s a severe depression had set in. I started doing harder and harder drugs to escape the pain. To be honest this dumb move likely saved my life at the time but I was also extremely lucky that I didn`t die of the many overdoses I experienced and didn`t go to prison. I bought fentanyl only once. Getting the dose right was like Russian Roulette. One wasn`t enough. Two was almost enough. Three would make me nod off. I knew better than to buy it again. Several people getting it from the same person almost died and had to be taken to the hospital. But if I had some right now I would do it. If I had a large amount I`d be doomed. That`s the reality. I don`t see a solution to this unless there`s a "vaccine" developed that prevents it from killing people.

Yet chronic pain patients can't get any Dr to prescribe opioids over a very small amount. If you have pain every second of every day and cry in the shower, can't go out to see friends, do small chores or even get a hug as it may be extremely painful, then you should let your pain management Dr prescribe the appropriate dosage. Especially when my Neurosurgeon's error back in 1998 left me with permanent nerve damage to my legs. I also have 2 spinal fusions and more discs in my upper back as well as more in my lower back. Opioids should not be used for a toothache but serious incurable conditions need more than Aleve. I sit in a chair all day when prior to 2016 I had a crappy life but at least it was a life. Stop using opioids as the devil drug! Addiction takes many forms, more people die from alcohol addiction and accidents caused by over indulging yet nobody will cut off the sale of booze. I can't drink anymore so I'm on board.
