Some SN95s were brought to Brazil in 1995/1995. I'm one of the lucky ones who got a Sapphire blue 1994 GT 5.0. Today it only has 23,000 miles on it. A car that gets better every day.

Sick of rusty fox bodies for 10k? Picked up a super clean 2000 gt 76k miles for 7k. Once you realize its 5 lug, breaks, and handles better than a fox you get over it quickly.

I bought one 3 years ago for 2K. Found it on Craigslist. Was going to buy to swap everything into my Fox body. It was listed as having body damage. It was sitting in a storage unit for 20 years. I showed up expecting a POS. The car was immaculate, except for the hood and windshield. Hood wasn't completely lached and flipped up and smashed the windshield. It had 60K on the odometer and still had the new car smell. I fixed it and kept it. 98 cobra brilliant white 5 SPD car. One of the best cars I ever owned.

The 94-95 Cobra to me was the best of both worlds. Old 5.0 upgrades and the best looking of the SN95. The 96-98 was nice in stock form but hard to work on and not a ton of upgrades unless you go with a power adder.
@midnight347
@midnight347 10 ай бұрын
The 4v is not hard to work on and they're pretty reliable. They have all kinds of aftermarket parts for it. You don't need heads factory heads flow killer ecsp ported they make cams for them and you can do a Sullivan intake or a ported short runner stock style intake it's not hard to get over 400 rwhp with a 4v that's pretty good from 281 cubic inches so I wouldn't say not much can be done other than boost although that is a good option too especially if you drop coyote rods and forged pistons in it that's a 600-700 rwhp capable motor on the cheap the crank came forged from factory and the teksid block is the stoutest aluminum block ever put into a Ford product 4.6 wise anyways. It can make as much power with forged internals as a built sleeved coyote.

Ford wasn't actually going to kill the Mustang name, just put it on a fwd, Mazda based car. The Probe was originally going to be called Mustang until at the last minute they (correctly) decided it was a bad idea. They had even made body panels with "Mustang" embossed in them.

When my dad finally put his two boys through 4 years of school he wasn't quite where he wanted to be to get that brand new Corvette however he got a phone call from a friend who I just got onto his used a 3 yr old 1995 but I believe was Pacific green Mustang GT convertible. 5 speed manual relatively loaded for 95 with a beautiful brown leather interior that match the top. The only thing that had been done to the car outside of the factory configuration was some flowmaster mufflers, pipes and headers. He drove that car all summer long everywhere he went taking my mom shotgun. 2 years after getting it he was diagnosed with cancer, 5 years after that he would pass. Having gotten into cars Late in high School I was working on a restoration project of an 85 RX7 I had to sell when does a few months into my marriage I found out we we're pregnant. I say we because I had to sell my car. After my dad had passed my mom gave the Mustang. My family love the hell out of that car. Got to the point where every spring I was pulling it out of storage and having to perform more and more repairs. I've always regretted selling it. I'm now post mid-life and a first year electrical apprentice at 5 years I top out. First word going to be saving and building on our house and as soon as I get a garage I'm going to build a 351 Windsor will a slight overbore (406 maybe honestly idk). Now I'm going to grab another 95 completely gut it and build the 95 with the power plant and the suspension I wished it had

It was the 1987+ Mustang that the Probe (introduced in 1988) was supposed to replace, not the 1994. The 1994 SN95 Mustang (also known as the Fox 4) was the replacement for the ageing 1979-1993 Mustang. Before the SN95, there were talks of a shortened wheelbase 1989+ Thunderbird for the new Mustang, which I thought would have been better than the SN95 because of the independent rear and double wishbone suspension front and back, and being a ridged body style.

Before it I had an 89' notchback, and a friend of mine bought a 94' almost brand new, and he set it up quickly with big wheels, flowmaster exhaust and other goodies. I couldn't help seeing the 4 wheel discs and its more bodacious stance and how the big wheels looked on it that I wanted one. I still have it and I still like it more than my prev. Notchback. After years of owning, building, and customizing fox bodies, I bought a '94 SN95 from my older brother who hit a rough patch and needed cash. I did my thang, she was crowned with the name Black Widow, due to the one off paint scheme and big power she was laying down after stroking and charging her. Truly best handling cars, tight and comfortable. Anyway, you're right about being different at shows or meets. I agree, worth their weight and completely interchangeable nuts snd bolts with foxes or new edges.

The early 4v is alot better than the old iron 302. They have forged cranks and a stout aluminum block all it needs is forged rods and pistons and you can make big power fairly cheap. Nowadays you can drop on boss rods and it's even cheaper good for 600-700 wheel in a 4.6 4v.

My first car in 2002 was a 94 GT 5 speed. Kept it all through high school and into college. Rebuilt the engine in high school with 10:1 compression, explorer intake, b303 cam. Also did 3.73 gears and sometimes ran drag radials. In todays world it would be a weak car, but early 2000’s it was pretty fast for my small town. I had my ass truly kicked in it twice. One was a 02 trans am firehawk, and the other was a 94 cobra with trick flow heads, cam, intake. Beat several LT1 powered Camaro and trans ams though. Still wish I never would of gotten rid of that car.

I like the SN95's, but I really like the upgrade to the New Edge restyle. Still technically an SN95. When I couldn't find a '99 Cobra 'vert, I looked into a '98. It was sweet, but my salesman called me and told me that they got a '99 in that someone decided that they didn't want. Rio Red, black interior and a black convertible top. It is a wonderful car. A few years later, I added an '03 Cobra 'vert. All black. It was taken off the line and run on the test track. It has a certificate, signed by John Coletti and Tom Scarpello, with all of the details and the mileage that they put on it. That makes it a bit more special. Either way, both Cobra's have given me lots of driving pleasure and they get a lot of attention. An excellent video and run-down of the SN95 Mustangs.

I'm kinda like you if they would have made the GT with more power that would have help them be more popular.Like with the Edge cars with the 03 04 cobra witch everyone still wants, something that you could buy from the factory.

They had same power as fox bodies and ain't but 100-150 lbs heavier trim for trim. They're not that bad. The 4v is the one to get.

Picked up a two owner time capsule white on tan 97 cobra in 9/22 for 4k. Granted it had a bad motor, but I happened to have a 4v track car that I could no longer track, so it's heart and suspension went into the new car. I've got one of the only ones around here now, some people don't even know what an SN95 even is now. It's all s197 and up here.

Didn’t the Super Stallion run on alcohol as well? It’s been years since I’ve seen anything about it but that seems to come to mind. 🤷🏽‍♂️ I turned 16 in ‘95 and I was rockin a ‘86 GT but the first time I laid eyes on the sn95 cobras & Saleens, I knew one would be in my future.

I remember reading the article on the concept boss. Chevy had a z/28 that went up against the boss. Chevy's production block couldn't hold up, so Chevy had to order a Donovan block. It's was a great read back in the day. I hoped Like hell ford would come out with the big block boss mustang.

#1..The Boss 9 was built for a friendly competition with GMs boss back in the day. They built a nasty ZL1 concept and they met at the track. I use to have the article from a mag. Lost it in a fire. It's out there. Pretty cool read.

I’m old. That’s my preface to my comments. First mustang was a 89 gt. Next a 93 gt. Finally, got sick of the z28’s 275 hp and did a FI on a 94 gt. The sn95 IMO, handled better and was more ergonomic. But who cares? Speed was the point. Had an opportunity to buy the 95 R, and I still have it!!! 351 no AC or backseats. I tracked it for a while, and now she’s in my garage along a 95 lightning that I still drive. Point is, the sn95 took a lot to stomach with its design. The fox should have offered at least a 351. But to each their own

The main problem with these cars is how flimsy they were. They didn't actually have a chassis. It was all stamped sheet metal, and there wasn't enough of it. I have never seen one that wasn't all mangled underneath from jacking and lifting. Ford did not put any lift points under them. Trying to lift from the front "frame rails" would bend them. Even jacking under the K member would bend it. Pretty much the only place you could safely lift them from was the rear axle (at least they did have a solid rear axle) or under the front control arms. I have a 2003 "new edge" Zinc Yellow V6 coupe as a daily driver. It came with 16" wheels, which I don't like. I found a nice set of 15" wheels from a '94-'98 for it, so I could use normal sized tires.

Sub frame connectors are a must. My '03 Cobra 'vert has them, but not my '99 Cobra 'vert. They did add some chassis bracing to the 'verts, since there was no top, for structural strength.

The notchback is more popular today than it ever was new. The SN95 are coupes under that Mach III inspired sheet metal. 5 lug 4 wheel disc antilock brakes. Dual air bags. Wider track. Flush mounted glass. Non fairmont inspired styling. Remove the useless wing, lower it and you’re set. Far any away better cars than the previous generation.

I'm not anMustang guy, at all, but I guess it was the timing and my age but we were in awe when they came out in 94. We would ride around to the dealers looking at them. I'm a Corvette guy but I like the SN95 cars just fine especially the Cobras... they held their own back in the day. Oh and that Cobra R? They were crude, no AC, they were horrible to drive in the summer, very limited production and the performance was lacking. Buddy of mine had one and was so proud until we actually started driving it, he trade it after 2 years for a 1997 Cobra and was thrilled the 96-98 DOHC cars were much better than the Rs in my opinion

i always liked the sn95 cars i still own a 94 sadly has some cancer but the body is mint i think this winter ill tear it down and try fixing it especially since sn95 prices have gone up a little bit since i initially started playing with the sn95 cars, i use to part them out too just my self probably cut up 35-50 of these cars because 10-15 years ago they were worth more in parts than they were together and the pushrod cars just hold a spot to me.

Can’t hate on the SN95 too much, our fox body Capri is half SN95! And there are many other fox bodies out there with SN95 parts. Capri has 95 engine, tranny, rear end, spindles, hubs, struts, brakes, and probably more I’ve forgot. But still a fox body. Lol

Loved the video. Even though I'm a euro guy, I've always been a Mustang fan. The SN95 is #1 on my list, followed by the fox body notch back of course. I really liked the color matched saleens. I know a dealer where I grew up had a white with white wheels and a yellow with yellow wheels.

Maybe it's because I am a 90s kid and the SN95 was the car to have in HS, but IMO the 94-98 body style is second only to the 89-93 notchback.

My biggest issue then and the same issue yet today. The 1994 GT should have hit scene with 280HP 285TQ DOHC cam engine that was also found in the Lincoln Mark VIII. That could have perfectly held up from 1994 - 1998, and it would only need a small bump in performance in 1999 with the new edge version of the SN95 platform. The 1994-1998 Cobra should had had same engine as the GT but came with minor performance upgrades better cooling system for track use, IRS, Brembo's, T56, suspension tweak for track use, better gearing, and that sweet Cobra intake manifold amongst parts that made the current 96 Cobra engine at 305hp and 300tq running that from 1994-1998. In 1999 new edge Cobra should receive same 5.4 that also went into the lightning. We SVT fans could stuck big aggressive cams into our supercharged 5.4 Cobra's and been happy campers... instead we got a Cobra in 1999 that was slower than one we bought new in 1996(speaking from experience)!!! it's whatever. I don't know personally I like SN95 but Ford mishandled the 1990s sorely and didn't make it up to us until 2003 but folks that stupidity bought 1999 Cobra(not point fingers, cough) were in their 1999 auto load when 2003 cobra launched and not ready to upgrade not even 4 years later. It is what it is and no use crying about it but Ford dropped ball on the 1990s and I have not owned a 1990s mustang since I purchased a 1996 and 1999 Cobra brand new.
