I was born and raised in the Boxmoor area. Went to school in King Langley. I knew the Grand Union very well . A friend and I made history by dying the Canal with a fluorescent sea dye obtained from an abandoned US Airforce base. We dumped pounds and pounds of the stuff near the Fishery Inn and it went all the way south to the Thames and out to the ocean. It was on Telly over 50 years ago .I've lived in the States for over 40 years now :-) Keep up the good work, guys.

I just love watching your vlogs! I’m so pleased that you flagged up that there’s access to boating for wheelchair users on the Grand Union canal with Waterways Experiences. I’d just like to let your followers know that I volunteer as a crew member for another, very similar charitable organisation that provides specially adapted wide beam canal boats for wheelchair users and those with additional needs, both for day trips and self hire holidays. We are called CanalAbility and are based on the River Stort at Harlow in Essex. On our day trips our visitors are also given the opportunity to get involved in steering the boats and operating locks with the help and guidance of the crew or they can just sit back and enjoy cruising the waterway and all it offers. It’s a joy for myself and my fellow volunteers to provide experience cruising on a boat to those who would otherwise not have access. Our service is sadly suspended during lockdown but we look forward to welcoming people back to cruise with us when we are back in operation. We’d love Foxes Afloat to stop by if you ever find yourselves on the Lea & Stort navigations!

So happy to see that wheelchair accessible boat! What a wonderful organization run by volunteers. My mom was a paraplegic the last few years of her life, so disability access is near and dear to my life. She could go nowhere since disabled people at the time were kept invisible. She died just before her 50th birthday, and used to be an avid outdoors woman. It is good to see so much changing for the better for disabled people. Great video! Otis is a dear, cute, adorable little guy. What kind is he? We are thinking about getting a second dog. Current one is a lazy, cute18 pound Pomeranian mix who we adore. :-)

That was a great boat. I used to plan journeys for people with "acquired" brain-damages and one of the "successes" was when I managed to arrange a trip that included a boat journey, but that time we only had one person totally dependent on a wheelchair and her they had to carry on board in the chair. Planing access was always a struggle. At one very smart (of season) restaurant some had to go through the kitchen. (but it was a lesson in how little staff you need to serve a small bus load of people if the staff are pros.) The bus driver of the lift equipped bus liked my trips to (if I may point that out), no hurry there, and that seems to be a good way of making people happy quite generally.

As the grandparent of a wheelchair-bound granddaughter with severe cerebal palsy, I so admire the work of Waterways Experiences. What a truly great thing they are doing to give people adventures they otherwise would never be able to do. We live on the other side of the world however, so don't think that will ever be an experience she will get to enjoy. Oh and yet another excellent vlog guys. (edited to fix a typo)

What a wiggly armload of adorable dog! Otis rules! How much will be weigh when he grows into those big paws? And what an excellent resource you have found for disabled boaters. A wonderful idea. Enjoy yourselves before the cold winds of winter arrive and you need to burn some of your coal. We here in New England USA are stuffing our pantries and getting fuel topped off also for a predicted chilly winter. Cuddles to The Otis.

Haha. Glad you didn't make a Horlicks out of the Ovaltine segment. (Groan) On the outtakes. Calling Otis Dhillon is so understandable. My Moggie, who I rescued from the street, I named Chooch. Once in a blue moon, I will call her Spook. A cat I had many years ago.
