Thanks for this, I was blanking all day fishing bottom baits and in the last hour I watched this, changed my tactics and caught about 10 minutes later 👌 you hit the nail on the head with why I didn’t like the thought of zig fishing but it does work 🎣

Great video, shows the effectiveness of the zig rig! Could a rotten bottom be used for the lead on the adjustable rig or would that be unsafe for casting?

Hi guys, great video. I fish a small, silky lake with very low visibility. Would you use unflavoured foam or boost it a bit with flavour, worms or use a pop-up? I heard that in countries as france, Belgium, ... Zigs work better with pop-ups. Do you have any experience with this? Kind regards
@Sniffer11113 жыл бұрын
Interesting the fixed zig massively out catches the adjustable....
@5732noel3 жыл бұрын
It’s all down to depth and position of the zig. The best thing about the adjustable zig is you can change its depth. All personal preference.
@Sniffer11113 жыл бұрын
@@5732noel well yeah, obviously. if the fixed zig is doing fish, then you would set the adjustable to the same height, which im sure he did. I think a fixed zig converts more hook ups. line is direct to the lead on a fixed, but there an amount of "give" with an asjustable.
@lewishunt61333 жыл бұрын
@@Sniffer1111 yeah makes sense, maybe the carp are suspicious of the float also

Adjustable zigs and vary the depth. top third of the water column is the place to start

Hey guys, fairly new to fishing, what’s the deal with reading pressure? What’s considered high, what’s considered low? What apps you using to read this as well? TIA!
@fox_international3 жыл бұрын
think of it as a sliding scale, as a very general rule for carp fishing class anything below 1005mb as low and anything above 1020 as high.

Why is the bottom so important for zig fishing?
@MegaAlacrity2 жыл бұрын
Unless the bottom contours like the Alps, I am dubious that the bottom is so important. I generally use adjustables, and in a lake/canal with a fairly uniform depth (where I am fishing), say varying 20%, (example 8' -10'), the fish will congregate at the same depth, relative to THE SURFACE. I ALWAYS cast in and feel the lead down on a fairly tight line. I wait 3-5 minutes for the PVA to melt (with the rod on the rest, baitrunner on, and alarm on, because I have had instant takes, at 2' OFF THE BOTTOM, and unlike Harry, I rely on hearing my alarms!) Then as Harry does, I count up as I let the line off the reel, to check the overall depth. Sometimes before the float appears, I can see the bait hit the surface first. Binoculars help! If I don't see the bait, I do as Harry does...wait for the float to appear and then work DOWNWARDS. The key number I always "record" is the depth as "feet under the surface" not "feet from the bottom." Whether the actual depth of the water where the carp is swimming is 8' or 10', generally the carp will be at a "fixed point" BELOW THE SURFACE. So one carp could be swimming in 8' of total water, and his mate 10 yards away, could be in 10' of total water, but they will BOTH BE (for example) at aprox. 2' below the surface. Barometric pressure will have the same influence on both fish, which is why multiple and simultaneous bites can occur, once you get the depth below the surface correct. I change the depths of all three rods frequently (every 15-30 minutes) until I find the right depth under the surface. With such frequent changes, it is easy to lose track of which rod is at what depth!! I use those "people counters" that they use to monitor people in and out of an event or venue. (The little handheld clicker devices). This makes it easy to keep track. I attach them to my buzzers using the fold-out "handle" on the clicker. It is amusing when asked why I have counters on my rods, to reply, "That is the number of fish I have caught on each rod!".....Mmmm 2222 on the left, 5555 on the middle but only 1111 on the right! I won't bore you all by discussing the best bit of kit for Zig fishing which is the "Deeper sonar device", which can put me on fish in minutes! I rarely use it to spot fish feeding on the bottom. It is the contours/features/depths/weed etc, that are important in that case. However, finding where they are in the water column, can be aided considerably by the use of a sonar device. Sorry for rattling on...it is much easier with a diagram or a video! I hope this has helped someone out there. 5 years ago, I didn't use Zigs...Now I cannot fish without considering using them. The number of blanks they have prevented is incredible.
