Yep, 5:10 just reinforces the contempt I have developed over almost 25 years for Adobe Acrobat. How on earth, in 2021, can this product fail to acquire sufficient memory to edit an 8-page employment contract? Every dang version of this product has stuff that plain doesn't work properly. Over the years it's been a print dialog that is totally confused about page numbers, or annotation editing that doesn't work, or UI elements that mysteriously sometimes work and sometimes don't, or mysteriously not displaying some subset of colored items in monochrome, or the switch to continuous page mode that for some reason prompts Acrobat to change the width at the same time... you get the idea. And if current Acrobat Reader DC is anything to go by, it's slow as molasses doing even light-weight tasks like resizing the window can easily take 10 seconds on a sizable PDF. In that regard it's way worse than Acrobat X from 2011. The Acrobat software department seems to be the place where Adobe's B team resides. And that's probably an insult to B teams.

On the plus side, thanks to Aaron for conveying some confidence that Foxit PhantomPDF is a solid candidate, even if these reviews didn't go very far into the deeper features, which is where "the devil is in the details".

Agreed!

0:50 Acrobat Standard DC as of today is at $156/yr for a susbcription. Which stops working after a year. If you want to buy a desktop version not chained to *&^%$ DC cloud, and doesn't quit after a year, it's more like $450.

Yup. Surprised these guys didn't catch that error. BIG DIFFERENCE.

Hi guys, supporting a student who has physical needs, e.g. they use a pen to write on their pdf docs. Which software would be better to support their writing and touch?
@methodtechnologies3 жыл бұрын
I haven't specifically used this feature, however I would assume both products support it as they support annotations and commenting. Make sure the computer you use has a touch screen that supports using a pen to write. There are a number of articles online on how to use this feature in both products.

As an Accessibility Specialist, Foxit has caused me nothing but headaches. Adobe Acrobat remains the gold standard. And I'm not an Adobe fanboi. I contract for a company that switched to Foxit and it seems like I'm always reporting accessiblity bugs and they really don't give a crap about accessibility. None of the other accessibility pro's I know work with Foxit because it's so inferior.

Could you please post in your description which Foxit you were using? On their website I see two different (3 if you count Mac) versions Foxit Standard and Foxit Business. I phoned Foxit a bit ago and asked for some key differences between their Standard and Business, the main difference for me is the ability to edit the images. Fox it also has an Educational discount which would be their online version and is (at the time of this typing) $25 a year.

I updated the description. I use Foxit PhantomPDF Standard. The Professional version really only gets you Bates numbering and some other obscure features.

In which of these programmes can you add to original pdf content as if it was original itself ?
@methodtechnologies3 жыл бұрын
Both of these programs would allow you to add content.

@@methodtechnologies meaning change original core content with the same font, style etc ?
@methodtechnologies3 жыл бұрын
@@shah5757 Yes, they both should do this assuming it is a standard font and not just an image.
@shah57573 жыл бұрын
@@methodtechnologies got it 🙂, reason I'm asking there's so many free programs out there that just add to what's on the pdf file, the new content id so different that you can tell it's been added to and was not part of the original file.

So does Foxit roll over and die after a year?
@mahmoudtoyin62662 жыл бұрын
Foxit PDF have the ability to right click of the top of the document and find the document location which it don't in Adobe PDF
@richardcarter4453 жыл бұрын
Yeah but acrobat is a standard software everyone knows. I feel like foxit is way over priced and now doesn't have a free version worth using like it used to.
@methodtechnologies3 жыл бұрын
From a cost perspective they are similar. User adoption is the one thing I feel Adobe has going for it.
