If Trump tariffs Canada there would be a 25% increase in fuel prices in the US. And no the US cant just find alternative sources within the US. That would require rebuilding 25% of the refineries in the US which would have already been done if it made any sense. The companies that own those refineries will just pass the costs onto the consumer. Same thing with Potash. Maybe the US could find sources in the US but that would be a multi decade long project. None of this will affect Canada because for us to find new customers would take months. And no I'm not some never Trumper. I just think he really messed up here thinking he can strong arm Canada when Canada holds a lot of power by being such a powerhouse when it comes to natural resources.
