My son-in-law is an Air Force traffic controller. I was told by him that military air traffic controllers can not be hired after their military career without starting all over their training as an air traffic controller. If there is a shortage of traffic controllers, it seems that these military personnel should be sought after instead of making it harder for them to step into the position.

Wow! Retired Airline Pilot here. 35 years. I fly small planes now for no pay about one per week. I cannot believe the ATC shortages!! Many times only one controller working, ground, tower and clearance. Sometimes they say unable to due to staff shortages. Good things come out of bad and it is looking like this tragedy may prevent another as it is exposing how under staffed our ATC system is across america. Too bad it took a tragedy to fix this. Mark

They move 400 to 600 miles per hour. Much harder to lock onto their location, and that's not how plane flight works. A plane must thrust in one direction, and make its turns slowly to negate the G force. In other words, a plane can't just dodge something in its way, similar to the Titanic not being able to turn in time.

Not anyone can become an air traffic controller. If a person can't pass thorough and rigorous testing prior to interview, then they are automatically disqualified until they can pass testing. In addition, the individual must prove they've been educated in air traffic controlling prior to being hired. I agree with President Trump, this is a position that cannot be filled by anyone.

We are in a societal decline due to abortion, suicide, and mutilation of our children to where they have no future shot at reproduction, we're missing milllions of children in the workforce. That's why hospitals have like day waits with gurney's in the waiting area and people sitting outside the hospital. It's why you can't get into a doctor for like a year. We have no children to keep the society going. Not to mention youtube and tiktok have made our kids want to be influencers and live in a virtual world. We need people, IN the workforce. The ones that have the work ethic and care about their job are the ones burning out because they're working harder than everybody coming in for just their paycheck.

As a forward air controller in the Air Force and radio operator, I can tell you there is no way to monitor 2 frequencies at the same time and watch the screens lining up multiple aircraft at the same time. Helicopters should never be using the same airspace at the same time as airplanes. That is a accident waiting to happen.
