There seems to be something about going straight to a university right out of high school that makes some youths become a little elitist or arrogant, especially if they are not from a racially or economically diverse area. University/college campuses are kind of limited environments, it is not the real world. They can get full of themselves, perhaps especially if the institution is private or more selective, such as UC Berkeley. Most likely these kids took all AP/IB classes in high school, which are often dominated by Asians and Whites from middle to upper middle class households.

Not all educated people are like this, but I have observed that some are, usually the the younger ones who might not have had to work full time at a minimum wage job, or perhaps have not been around people of different backgrounds. Even if you can't get a driver's license, and I currently cannot, you can still go to the DMV or courthouse and get an ID card. Here in TN it costs $6! None of my friends have EVER complained about having to produce an ID to vote. If it's required of everyone, it's not racist. All voter ID laws will do is ensure fewer non-citizens vote. It won't weed them all out, since many states allow illegal immigrants to get driver's licenses, but it will definitely help.

Details are important. The people on the Berkeley campus did not say ALL black people can't access the internet, can't get to the DMV etc. They say it is LESS LIKELY black people have access. If you go to the south or other republican controlled areas where voter IDs are being pushed, transportation (no good public transport) and internet access (lack of broadband) are issues. No elderly black people were interviewed. No black people on teh campus were interviewed. Of course young black people who are mobile and internet savvy will not have these issues. He asks the Berkeley students about voter ID but his question to the black people never engages them about the issue. The people on the college campus point to systemic issues about voter ID and is not the indictment of black people's abilities or intelligence. The fact that s many people here can't see this is a ruse and red herring; it's sad. I notice he does not tackle the issue of imprisonment and it's ability to strip people of their voting rights. I'm sure the black people wold have interesting things to say about that, but that would not fit into the interviewer's agenda.

My sister is very liberal. Me and my Mexican wife are very conservative. One of my favorite moments was me and her arguing about something I think it was voter ID and immigration enforcement that kind of stuff, my wife was in kitchen helping my mom w Christmas dinner. My sister acts like such an SJW but will make fun of my wife’s accent sometimes, she doesn’t mean it to be offensive, but the fact she thinks it’s a funny and will sometimes repeat the accent to my wife is so blindly offensive and she won’t even realize it. But my wife called her out on it that day and kind of threw her views back at her. She said Mexicans are the same as anyone else, we know when we are breaking the law and when we are not. We are not dumb, we just grew up with a different language and dialect. We don’t need any special treatment, the idea that we would is racist in itself. She went on basically breaking down how so many liberals have been more prejudiced toward her than any red blooded white conservative guy she has ever met. My sister had nothing to say. It was glorious. One more reason I know she’s a keeper.
