I know a real life similiar story.. no Fed thing though. I know an old guy that grew up in eastern Europe when it was still ussr. He got busted trying to buy a bag full of levi blue jeans in 82. The Soviets hated everything American and he was sentenced to 3 years in a Lithuanian prison camp. And the Soviets starved them. 2 cups of thin broth a day. Or... you could fight. Each man got a razor blade and the guards and local leaders would come and watch and place bets. The winner of the razor fight got 2 sandwiches and the loser half a sandwhich. So basically if you didn't want to starve to death you had to fight once or twice a week. Only good part was when he got out him and his buddy literally snuck their way all the way to the coast and found an anti communist sympathizer who was a fisherman.. they hid in the fish freezer for 2 days and the final night the boat broke international law at the time and came within 5 miles of Italy. They jumped overboard and swam to shore.. then made their way to Rome and the American councilet and asked to defect to the u.s... at the time we welcomes anyone who could escape the ussr.. 3 days later he was on a plane to phx Arizona... crazy. And to this day I'll never understand how kids here today embrace communism.. they have no idea what it is really like.

I'll never understand why adults are still desperately holding onto the fallacy of conflating communism with the Democratic Socialism the younger generations are looking towards or their ability to find fault in our current system, while hypocritically enjoying and benefitting from many "socialist" programs in our society. Kids aren't 'embracing communism' just because they are able to point out flaws in capitalism, and there are flaws. Don't toss out misconceptions based on your generation's fight with Eastern countries, which saw how close your generation came to losing human rights because people were told to be scared of everything "red". Your generation was allowing the government to cross lines based on real fear of war, and the not so real fear that you should turn in your neighbors for expressing their differing thoughts on the matter. Sounds familiar to communist governments, doesn't it?
@joshythehand2960 Жыл бұрын
@@Nikybeez the nazis were Democratic socialists, the Chinese are Democratic socialists, the cubans, the Vietnamese, the cambodians.. between them they murdered 30 million of their own citizens. It doesn't work. Socialism is 3 wolves and 1 sheep voting on what's for dinner. Our system protects the right of the minority.. and the sheep isn't on the menu.
