Great video. Leave text on for a bit longer. Also maybe black letters would make it easier to read. Thanks

Excellent report. Any idea of the navigable depth available on low water spring tides? One problem is that the port is on the west and most European countries are on the east.

A direct east to west approach by sea to Ireland from most of the rest of Europe isn't usually feasible because the enormous land mass of Britain gets in the way. Much of the shipping from mainland Europe approaches Ireland from the south, having travelled along the English Channel/La Manche and then turning north at the south western tip of Cornwall.

I wonder if much dredging is required? In NZ one port in particular needs dredging virtually continuously, and only generally exports raw logs. Cruise ships are too big to dock resulting in shuttling the little enclosed lifeboat craft which carry about 50/60 people.

You could build at least 2 bike sheds with €32million... Great video, my thoughts are this is a great project but our government wouldnt have done this without EU directive. This is a European top down Ten-t project order to Ireland to complete so the folks building this railway cant build rail elsewhere until this is done. My only doubts are will this rail service see much freight from foynes port when built as we dont see much rail to/from dublin with Rosslare taking no rail freight at all.

Bike shed fiasco be funny if not true , absolutely sickening waste of money
@ajcummins7776Ай бұрын
I suspect you are right. This railway to nowhere was the price to be paid to the TEN t bean counters to access co funding for Foynes and Rosslare etc...and possibly the parallel motorway. The real need is for urban rail expansion in Dublin and Cork etc...not freight which redundant in such a tiny country like Ireland. Bit of an emperors clothes syndrome. Everybody knows it ..but is afraid to say it.

@@ajcummins7776 I could see a case for it if not for the motorway . All freight services in Cork stopped the minute the Cork - Dublin Motorway opened
