In Brazil Colapinto was telling the team that he was struggling a lot and that he wanted wet tyres, I would put that crash more on Williams for putting him on cold inters having to catch the safety car, being a rookie driver and with how many experience drivers crashed that day it shouldn't be surprising, las Vegas was completly on him though, simply overpushed
@sonyu872 күн бұрын
Totally agree. But also Albon said that the car went treaky and that they had to overpush to be fast. He was about to get in q3 before he went to the wall. The car was an issue and being a rookie with no experience in a street circuit it all went Wrong. But he is so fast, he has raw pace, the mistakes he made are natural for a rookie and can be polish. He deserves another chance. I think that with a full season and a realible car he will shine
@invoidker10492 күн бұрын
In Las Vegas he was in a 6th car in a DRS train and throwing up purple mini sectors for the whole straight and likely didn’t break sooner to compensate. Would’ve been an amazing lap if he made it tho.
@Matt041082 күн бұрын
The safety car is why they put him out on inters. No point putting him on wets behind a safety car. The whole problem is that as soon as it was time for wets, they put the safety car out for no reason, when there had been no incident. Totally screwed up Yuki and Liam's race, as they were on the correct tyre, and everyone else should have been forced to pit for wets, instead of cruising around slowly behind the safety car.

Franco is a very good driver, last year he was racing in F3, he only had a couple of tests with the team and they sent him in the middle of the year to complete the season, it is a very difficult task for any driver, he started very well, surpassing expectations, but it did not end in the best way, the crash in Vegas was (in my opinion) the event that marked the remaining races a little, from then on the car was not the same as the first 4 races, then it had bad luck , two DNFs, for which neither of them were responsible, hopefully in the future he will have another chance to show how good he is.

I think the only reason he's not on the grid in 25 is because Williams were asking for $20million to release him from his contract. That feels rather egregious for what is still very much an unproven young driver.

It should be noted that Colapinto came into that Williams seat for two races where Williams are usually strong (Monza and Baku). Both are very low-downforce tracks and the Williams was often a bullet in a straight line on low-downforce tracks. He did out-drive the car in Singapore, COTA and Mexico and benefited from some shit driving from other cars. Brazil, that car was shown at its absolute weakest - A Mid-Downforce track in the wet. No chance that Williams was surviving. Vegas, his crash in Qualy was bad, before he got yeeted by Ocon Abu Dhabi, he had an unlucky clip with Piastri. I think Colapinto got a bit ahead of himself after his good start, not realising the limitations that the Williams had in terms of downforce. I think he is decent, but he has a lot to learn and came in too early.

Or maybe judging him by his limites running in a low end team is pointless and unfair? I know you're content starved in the off season but jeez give the kid a break

He wasn’t even that bad, one bad race (okay more than one but he wasn’t worse than Logan in any race apart from Brazil) doesn’t make a driver. Even if he doesn’t have a drive for next season, he’s put his name in the hat now, and he has good experience. It’s a win for him

Jeez, these new young drivers are so bland and lacking personality. When I look at the older drivers, it was all about natural diversity and frankly I don't know what happened but I hate to see each veteran driver go.
