Feel like you either have to have Salah or Haaland and build a team around either of them. The run of fixtures favours Salah but you need a backup plan to counter Haaland in gameweek 2

Yeah, I've had both sides before. Not owning one of them and getting absolutely destroyed in rank, and owning one and them not doing too much. I'm wary of putting all my funds in one player. Salah's getting older and Liverpool have a lot of other options in attack; at some point he's not going to perform as well as we might hope! I'd definitely prefer Haaland, but now Alvarez has gone does that make Foden an even better option? Could you cover for Haaland with him and save 6.5mil for elsewhere in your team?

@@averagefplguy Well that's very much an option Foden for gameweek 2. I personally like the option of having Saka, Palmer and Salah for gameweek 1 and then moving to Foden in gameweek 2 from Saka who has a tricky Villa fixture.

Mateta played in the Olympics so will likely miss the first 3 game weeks .

Yeah you may be right, I was kind of thinking they'd treat that as a pre-season for him and he'd slot back in. He's out of the team now anyway for price reasons!

I only ever really have one usable bench player to put funds elsewhere, but I get what you're saying; it's not the finished team that's for sure! I'm working on getting Haaland in without destroying the team - any ideas?

Son for Eze (more worth for your money - and think Eze will even outscore him). Thats 3m there. Now you only need 2m more to drop Watkins for Haaland. You could figure that our yourself, im sure

@@Fanga1337 Thanks for your comment! I've put my latest draft team out on a video today. I'm just not a fan of Eze from an FPL standpoint so I've managed to work Haaland into my team whilst also keeping Son!

No Haaland no party. Why is your defence so expensive if the most points come from midfield and attack

I've tried to get a balanced team for this draft - The price difference in defenders is a lot smaller than the attacking positions so we're able to get those players in easier, and you don't save much money by going cheaper in defence (although I've balanced it out by having two cheap bench defenders). Plus, even though they're on the more expensive side for defenders, they're a lot cheaper than most midfielders/attackers. I've still managed to get in 4 of the top 7 point scorers from midfield and two of the top 5 strikers from last season. I also think those defenders will get off to good starts; their teams are solid and they're settled in their line-ups. Of course, it's a matter of opinion and it can all change, but hopefully that explains my thinking a bit more around it!

@@piebub_ I think they've done the prices very well. You'd think most engaged managers have gone onto the website by now, but less than half have him in. The upside of having him means that you're hedging your bets to not get left behind if he scores lots! Plus if he doesn't it's easy to move off him - though once you have him will you never sell for fear of missing out, and therefore restrict your team as a result!? A lot of people didn't own him for stretches last year and were fine.

No offense but this is a piss poor team. Loaded defense yet new BPS system is against defence in general. Having no Salah and/or Haaland juat means youll end up transferring them in Week 2 after theyve scored. Might as well have them from the start

Haha no offence taken, it's a matter of opinions and good to get discussions going! I don't think it's that bad though; sure I take your point about wanting Haaland or Salah - it's not that I don't think they'll score points, (they'll both likely score in gameweek 1) it's whether I can recreate their points elsewhere - is Watkins, Wood & 4.5mill in the bank better than Haaland? 4.5mill because you'd need to budget for another striker alongside Haaland. I also get what you're saying about bonus points for defenders, though I'm not bringing them in for bonus points, although that would be nice, it's for the consistency of the teams they play in. You also wouldn't save much by going cheaper (if I was to take one out it would probably be Porro) but there's not too much more I could do with that cash. How's your team looking?
