Confusing :)

Another thing. It has recently 'proposed' that, contrary to what we believed since Einstein's Theory of General Relativity, the speed of light is not the fastest speed at which anything can travel, since it is being alleged that there is 'something' that travels yet faster than speed of light. What would be the implications be were it to be proven that such was true? Would E=mc2 become 'nonsense'? Would it mean that all we 'know' about physics is wwrong? And could such a discovery, in any way, 'reconcile' general physics with quantum physics and help us resolve the questions as why the 2 defy each other?

My difficulty in understanding 'light' and 'seeing' goes deeper. It's trying to understanding light in terms of space-time. If an event happens to a star that happens to situated 200 light years away from our naked eye it would take 200 years for us to be able to see it. How does light 'carry the information/event' and then 200 years later our eyes can 'see it'? Do photons 'carry information'? I'm so confused about the entire subject that I get confused even in how to formulate my question in a comprehensible manner. I'm totally lost.
