Sad to see they are still a snoozefest even with a "good" server. That ai is terribly easy. They don't see you even when you are more than in their peripherals, making massive amounts of noise. Damn, was hoping for a better fps experience. Back to the streets of cheaters I guess.

This is due to the adjustment of the vertical cone of view and is not AI inhibition.

@@Raazik Even face on, they don't see you half of the time. I can legit just hold w and win every ai event. The desync even on the best sc server is miles worse than any fps, so it's easy to cheese the dysync, by simply holding w.

NPCs have a detection time parameter that depends on player's position relative to their direction of view (closer/farther to vertical and horizontal vector, etc). When player enters the NPC's line of sight, a virtual "detection scale" will begin to fill. When it is full, player will be detected. The filling time also depends on the state of the NPC at the moment: rest, or alarm. At 0:14 and other moments, when player was on the same level with the enemies, the AI reacted instantly. Problems are observed only if player is above the target and is clearly related to the setting of the rate of filling the scale. This is not desynchronization, but just problems of the alpha version, when the developer set of parameter to the principle "as the hand falls on the keyboard." :) Also in the comments, many wrote about the lack of AI reaction to grenades, which is not surprising, given that this code is currently being written ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/nZ26o5WFg6eArcU )

@@Raazik Well, I slay them all day everyday, I've yet to have ai instantly react to anything. I hold w and p6 them all without taking damage. Didn't seem to change with server performance as the result is the same, sub 2 min bunker clears, 0 damagae and another snoozer of an experience. I really hope they increase the difficulty or dection times then if that's the case, they are awfully easy to cheese.

In the 12 months I've been playing this game I've never seen such an instant door open reaction, must be due to only having a server fps in single digits usually.

Yup thats the reason. Got into a server with 2 people a few days ago and everything was butter smooth at 30fps.

I popped into a server like this for the first time the other day. Definitely caught me by surprise. My buddy casually walked into the hanger to pick them off and was promptly lit up. Then when I ran over to pick him up, the cargo bay group of pirates I was shooting at followed me down the hallway and got me from behind 😂

Yeah its just that most of the time you dont get to expirience it in actual combat. But its genuenly quite good

The audio is extremely flat and ruins it for me. There is no punch to the shots.

@@skybellrock The audio mainly depends on the weapon type, he was also using a supressor. From my experience I find the audio actually pretty good and always give a different feel depending on the weapon and its projectile type.

I run with suppressor all the time, but they are a bit too OP at the moment, basically negating any enemy alertness. Great showcase of a 30sfps run tho, thanks.

At 0:11 the guards don't react to a door opening right behind them, and then the guard on the players left doesn't react to an armed person shooting his partner. The player then peaks in the room to two more guards who don't react to two dead bodies. They then allow the player to heal up fully and then later charge to their deaths rather than approaching the door from cover...not really sure that's good AI.

The AI in the PU isn't very good. The AI in Squadron 42 at the moment is good and is what we will get eventually.

@@ryanellis233 you can’t say this with any degree of confidence though. Nobody’s seen S42 and AI in a multiplayer game is orders of magnitude more difficult than it is in a single player game.

@@andrewshandle Don't make it up. The guards were talking to each other and did not immediately see the door open, which is quite real in life. It is likely that they may think that the ship has been captured, and therefore they are relaxed. And the second ones on the right were waiting for the player. In fact, you couldn't go straight to the door either, because the enemy could be waiting for them outside the door, and they just waited for him and held him at gunpoint. Everything is very realistic and there is no need to invent a game "Call of duty" or "warzone", these garbage dumps do not belong to a realistic battle of fighters. This is not a stupid arcade game. This is a game in which a lot of attention is paid to the value of life and a more real neat approach in battle. Artificial intelligence is good and will be improved, where opponents will interact more intelligently and tactfully with each other using special tactical means.

@@andrewshandle How did they know he was being treated?)) don't make up nonsense that doesn't happen. As a player, you would go check, but you don't think about the fact that they might be waiting for you outside the door. Your avatar will die and you will go to make new coffee. In a real situation, you would think a hundred times about going to check the enemy's condition. It is more logical to wait for a new exit. You can carefully approach closer and throw a tactical grenade, but this is as an option for further improvement.

This game is a work of art when the server FPS is highly. Brings a whole new level of excitement and intensity. Best showcase of AI I have seen. Thanks for the vid.

Let's not get over excited. AI is sub par at best when the servers are responsive, let alone when hey're not. Then the AI is... well waiting to be killed. Even with a server at 30 FPS it takes a lot of will from the player part to die to the AI.

Seems like the AI is in a decent enough state. Still missing some key features though, like alerting friends. But these are things that they already shown us they're working on.

@@moxiemau5980 dude... A lot of AAA games dont even have the some of the """basic""" AI that SC already has. Since Fear, AI is totally stagnated in the industry. Of course i will be positive about something better than the standard, even if its a work in progress. Ghost Recon Wildlands for example (a singleplayer game "focused" in PvE) didn't even had individual or group based alerting. That came only after Bp. Thats a lot of years, and the AI in this game is still as braindead as you can get. I prefer 100% the SC AI (in a good server), over something like that.

@@MrKleenexDude but the scale on the game is much smaller, have a serious lack of attention to detail, and it's something they have experience in it and know how to make it work. While sc is develloping new tech and pushing it. Plus ubisoft is a big studios, cig is a an indie studio, not same personnal, not same budget

few days back me and my buddy landed on this server holly f what an expirience it was i wish that everybody game runs like this every time we played 8+ hours on the server because expirence was amazing loved it.. everything was smooth instantly reacting and fun to play loved it

The thing I'm most impressed with is the 300i is still in the hangar bay! Usually when I do this mission is spawns outside the hangar bay, or not at all.

during whole 3.18 i had on hour of gameplay content like in this video. after said hour passed everyone 30k. never saw that kind of performance ever again.

Thanks for that it shows that the issue is server tick and not AI code :-) there is still the issue zith AI not being on the same plane tho (the guy in the stairs not shooting at you whereas he could see you)

This is due to the "cone of vision" setting and can be corrected by changing the value of just one variable.

AI are affected by server performance in other games too. ArmA AI for example do fine until around 10 server FPS. Any lower than that they pretty much become dead weight on the server.

and that is why server fps needs to be capped at 30, I can't even imagine those ais working at 60 or 90 fps. xD Side note, when you play single players game at 120 fps, you are making the AIs even harder than they should be. 120 fps means 120 thoughts, 120 updates to the current situation's plan of action per second. That means you gonna have to think faster and react even faster to counter those fast-thinking AIs, which most gamers can't.

uh... just no... not every game ties game logic updates to movement/drawing updates -- and even if it were the case, the difference between 60 fps and 120 fps is 8 milliseconds, negligible for most use cases, all other factors account for way more delay

bro last night i got lit up and when someone came to rez me via beacon, he got lit up too and someone had to come save him as well. and then we all kept taking turns getting blasted by the remaining scavs. a solid hour of chaos in the server😂😂

AI has always actually been pretty decent, its the servers. They have dialled it up to a point to counter the servers where when it works, the AI just lasers you so fast if you arent careful 😂

Well, we used to get really good AI back in the day, like Far Cry, Crysis, Rainbow Six, Half-Life 2, and Halo. But then over time the studios only focused on lame things, and so AI was pushed to the side. So now a lot of newer open world games have very terrible AI, so it's nice that Star Citizen goes back to the classics when AI were actually good. They just need to up their server tick rates.

Also seeing how 25 tics is already detramental to 30 tics... Considering the average I've been having is 5~10 tics for the servers I end up on is not very promising..

This comment section is such a major example of how we, as SC players, are so used to absolute shit that the bare minimum components of a working and intriguing game makes us look at it like it's incredibly groundbreaking to have AI that....well are "Intelligent." Even with this good server performance, you can see specks of lackluster AI that still need to be fleshed out.

as this is what Cry Engine was built for I have no doubt once servers are better the AI will be on par with the likes of other simulator shooter games like Arma 3. They need to increase the speed of the ragdolls a bit though. Might not be most realistic but it helps the gameplay experience.

AI in SC will never be like ARMA 3, simply because SC isn't a FPS game. It's a game with some fps in it, but it will never be as good as a game that is built solely for FPS.

I'm honestly not that impressed but it could be this is using old NPC behaviour as I've noticed that the Orison platform NPCs are a lot more aggressive & accurate.

Let's also consider SC is supposedly immersive and has its part of realism. In a real life situation you won't see NPCs rush you like they do in COD or any other shooter game. If your life depends on it you'd most probably move slowly and check last seen position of your enemy. That being said, there is still work to do to improve the behavior.

Afaik ai runs on its own thread and that can be bogged down independently but still will be hitched by other threads tl;dr tick rate alone wont make the ai necessarily responsive

i wonder how you find that server and had the idea of recording it. many server rn are filled with clutter and breaking under it. find a fresh server with a new Master Graphen Data bank spawn is absolut rare.

yeah idk... never seen this responsive of gameplay in 3 years of playing.. when you do the new orison missions the ai see's you before your ship lands.. usually you get clapped on your way out of your ship but if you manage to make it out and kill everyone the last guy always stuck in the elevator. but im scared of new ai imagine 30fps server it would be like fighting the best fps players in the world lol

He couldn't shoot through the glass at the top of the stairs, but he could shoot through the glass under the stair railing. I am wondering if players are getting lag effects where they think they're in cover, but the server thinks they've moved, so they get shot. Or, it could be that AI are actually putting enough heavy rounds through doors (or their gun barrel is Inside the door?) and they're essentially clipping though.

This is what is so frustrating about the FPS combat during heavy server lag. The sheer amount of dmg that you took during the testing at times, easily mitigated by the armor you wearing BUT that same kind of dmg just insta's in my experience.

AI with a no lag server is scarry if you ask me. played siege of Orison with my Org on a no lag server. no new players were joining it causing it to be about 30 players of which around 20 were on Orison doing the event. this caused the AI to be extreamly sharp and alot more responsive making the whole event so much harder to finish ( my squad all had t2 or t3 injuries all over their bodys ) so yeah fighting against a group of competent and actually working AI makes the game a lot more fun but also a lot harder as the AI actually does what its supposed to do.

One thing that i realised is that the servers are the only thing thats screwing over the game. Was lucky enough to get to play in a couple of 10-20 fps servers, I feel like they have to downgrade its tech for SC to be stable again otherwise they should just focus on SQ42

AI shooting thru the walls is amazing. when is CIG going to fix this bs? also they dont see and hear shit when you kill a dude next to them with silencer (makes no sense) and when they are alerted they one tap you instantly (what makes no sense either). i want to see F.E.A.R. AI in this game!

You havent seen a server without lag yet. This is ass In a server with no lag they rush you and are super alert. You cant stand on one spot with them just there like that trust me

Tbh, I'm watching this video for 4th of 5th time and... no, this AI doesn't seem very good. They shoot through walls (no, it's not a prefire, they think they can hit you and the move in the same time that's why it looks like that). When they see you through a glass wall they are loosing you as a target instead of 1 watching you and the other going in. When you first hit the guy on the stairs the other comes in 'to check on him' even though they can see you through the glass window. When you enter the hangar with a ship and shoot the first couple in front of you the others on the other end don't react to the shooting in the same room (sic!). So yeah, the response to everything is better, but I wouldn't call it good AI / NPC behaviour.

Yes, that's right. However, all of these things are relatively easy to set up. The fact that AI does not see through transparent panels has long been known. The most difficult thing is just the AI routes and movement in response to the player's actions. And there is no problem with this, except that the CIG should make them run, and not always walk carefully.

@@Raazik CIG should make a lot of things that they are not doing... Putting them (AI) in place with shit code is pointless to me. Either we have the full package or just let them T-Pose. Finish up everything and we can test all things. Now we can't test anything

I have played this mission a dozen times but never in my life seen the AI be this responsive.This might sound like a bad thing but i think its good that the AI by itself is good while the only thing holding the AI back is the Server ( which will hopefully be fixed next year)

The degree of brokenness depends on success of the current patch and the state of the server. Separate mechanics have not been finalized and not implemented into the overall system; in fact, this is a tech demo. But a tech demo with AAA graphics, lack of crutches inherent in all other game projects without exception, crazy interactivity and which gives rise to gameplay situations unthinkable anywhere else. Is it worth $45? If you're a fan of games like the X universe, Elite, Escape from Tarkov and DayZ, it's definitely worth it, especially if you find an organization and play with friends.

Server meshing will allow you to split the space of the planetary system into many small servers, which will greatly reduce the load, so yes, in the future they will be like that.

how much of % did you speed up the video? 0.75 speed feels more the correct verse speed. this was server speed i assume?

Video plays 1 to 1 regarding game process. On timecode 4:28 speed is reduced to 0.3 of normal.

i hate how everything in game is server side, client side would make the game feel so much better. like why does pulling a gun out need to be server side. or so many other things.

I love Star Citizen because everything is handled on the server side. :) Because of this, (theoretically, if exclude desyncs), all players see all things the same, whether it's animations of falling bodies, or debris scattering during explosions. For me, the lack of false processing on the client side is extremely important and this is the reason why I keep waiting for this game, and other projects are perceived as fake, toy. But even if we exclude the aspect of feeling the reality of what is happening, server-side processing is a factor necessary for gameplay. Just two examples: 1. At one time in Tarkov, the fall of corpses was handled on the client side. Because of this, it sometimes happened that for one member of the detachment the corpse fell down, while for the second it remained lying on the roof - an absurdity. 2. In Star Citizen, shipwrecks are physicalized so that even a small piece of a wing can kill the player it falls on. If the debris were handled by clients, their lethality would have to be turned off, otherwise it would be rather strange for a person to fall dead due to a part that fell 10 meters from him on your computer (and right on his head from his computer's point of view). So let's leave the simulations on the side of clients to single projects like Cyberpunk 2077, or Stalker. SC is an MMO after all.

@@Raazik I agree with what your saying. In a perfect world everything you said would be great, but CIG's servers are terrible at the moment to the point where in game events like xenothreat are preventing me from pulling out a weapon to protect myself in a bunker is just not ideal. So until we get better servers or lower player caps then client side gameplay will be ideal for me.

Server physics is needed for this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q6uTd2SBd5Zjaa8 :) (If the physics were handled by the client, the developers would have to turn off debris collisions. Otherwise, other players would not understand why this guy is floating in the air and thought it was a bug).

That Yubarev Pistol, manufactured by humanity, sold at Grim Hex, and very often spawns in crates and enemy armor.

Запиши такой видос сейчас во время сраного Ксенотреда, на видосе ты 11 минут будешь пытаться купить снарягу и вылететь со станции, и в итоге закроешь игру и пойдешь играть во чтото во что действительно можно «играть»

Accidentally. 2 factors came together: 1. Wee hours when online is at its lowest. 2. Fresh just restarted server. After about two hours, fps dropped to 20-15-10.

Bullets do not pass through walls, this is a graphical bug related to the peculiarities of tracer animation.

@@Raazik My eyes must have deceived me, as I thought I saw you take damage whilst already being behind a solid wall - catching the graphical remarks of what seemed to be bullets with your character.

About 6-7. Previously, were founded studios (from scratch) in the USA, Great Britain and other countries, staff was recruited, many employees were lured from the Crytek studio responsible for the Crysis series, in particular, the procedural generation specialist, who created the ArcCorp location and whose ideas did not take root in Crytek due to reorientation to the console market. In 2018-2019, the transition to the MMO variant of Cry Engine from Amazon - Lumberyard was made, then Lumberyard grew into its own Star Engine. By comparison, Cyberpunk 2077 took 8 years to make, but CD Projekt already had staff, studios, and money. As for the screams about half a million dollars raised for development, then _"PUBG Mobile became the most profitable game in the world thanks to season passes and live services in 2021, with a profit of $2.9 billion"._ This is not to mention the super profits of EA, which has billions on the Battlefield series alone. The kickstarter page was opened in April 2013, exactly 10 years ago. However, initially the funds were collected for a completely different game - a single-player project like Freelancer, but with better graphics and ship interiors. The AI is still dumb af in many ways. The fact with a suppressor on you can shoot one and the others don’t react, or they walk past dead bodies without a care in the world is really poor.
