Drone Mesh did latency testing on the caddx f1. 1-4 milliseconds mostly around 3.5ms. Awesome review video can't wait for the extended version!

yes it updates the change mid frame due to the rolling shutter of the cmos whereas with ccd it tends to have to weight until the next interlaced frame before showing a change. I am not sure how that would work with very fast movement thought as it would possibly show distortion from the rolling shutter.

I only use the foxeer arrow, I absolutely love them and they're only $20. I've tested all the caddex cameras, the predator and the swift. In my opinion the the arrow allows you to see the best. It's not necessarily the "prettiest" picture, all though in my opinion its very nice, but it allows you to see the best. The other option simply don't give me the same kind of confidence, I simply "see" better with the arrow. Love your work as always, thank you!

A lot of people immediately lower the brightness on the Predator Mini and Micro in an attempt to make the colors a little more saturated, but that has the side effect of darkening the shadows, cancelling the benefit of the SWDR. If you leave the brightness close to default and only tweak Hue and Color gain then the shadows won't go black, and can get reasonable color rendition. The reason I pick something like the Predator over the Swift 2 is that it shows objectively higher resolution in my 800x600 goggles. A Fatshark DVR won't capture that because it records at 640x240 but I can definitely see the difference between a 1000tvl image and a 600tvl image. I can literally see more details from further away with the Predator, than any other camera I've used. I have not tried the Caddx SDR1 yet and the digital artifacts rule out the Eagle.

What do you have your Hue and Color gains set to on the Predator? I love it for the same reasons you stated but still looking for optimal settings, cheers!

Hue is 78-80 down from default of 90. I'm still tweaking the gain, but I've seen folks with it up as high as 147 from the default of 136. I'll freely admit that the color rendition isn't perfect but the actual high resolution image I see is why I still prefer it over my previous cameras. Foxeer has said they're working on the colors too.

Hey! Did this CADDX changed sensor of Caddx Turbo micro SDR1? A month ago I saw that one russian guy (Anik FPV) reviewed and dissassembled this camera. And his camera contained 4x3 native sensor. Thus, 16x9 was gained by cutting of top and bottom parts of the image.

Thanks for the shorter 16 minute video. The easy way to mount the micro cameras in a full size mounting frame is to use two 5mm 3M standoffs as spacers with longer screws. I like using the micro size cameras in my 5" because it doesn't stick out as much and holds up longer.

@Joshua Bardwell You convinced me to get the runcam eagle 2 and I did. I immediately noticed that the shimmering noise is less apparent in the goggles than on your recorded footage. I am convinced that the digital video encoder is exaggerating the problem. I bet if you recorded the video with a VHS, or some other analog recorder, then played it back, the digital shimmering noise would be far less.

Sir could u pls help me I connected my cam to vtx I get singnal in goggles but it's just black no video .and I'm not using osd and the band and channel are same in goggles and vtx .but it's just a black screen and the cam is working fine I plugged it in tv it's good

Black signal in goggles means the vTX is on, and the goggles are on the right channel, but the vTX is not getting signal from the camera. You gotta figure out your wiring I guess.

I think that it has built in OSD it's just turned off. Plug in the joystick and press up on the joystick for 2 seconds. It should bring up the menu that lets you configure the OSD.

I been using Foxeer Arrow Micro Pro CCD camera on my builds and love how they perform and it's price. I haven't tried the Caddx Turbo F1 Micro CMOS camera but they are same price as the Foxeer. How does Caddx Turbo F1 compare to Foxeer Arrow Pro? I have Fatshark Dominator and they are 16:9 but mostly been using 4:3 cameras. Will I have less vertical field of view but gain horizontal field of view if I try the Caddx Turbo F1 with 16:9?

Yes, I have two Micro Swift 2 and two Foxxeer Micro Pros. I just flew them (4 quads) back to back two days straight -- lots of packs. It's a minor difference, but it's as if the Micro Swift 2 has a bit better "resolution". Just a bit better image, imo.

Plug in the camera joystick then hold up on the joystick for 2+ seconds until the camera OSD menu appears. Then turn off the elements you don't want to see.

so Joshua, Micro Eagle with the settings turned down to get rid of colour fringing and paired with say RunCam's small VTX is about as good as we can do in this weight category? I love my Connex Prosight (for FPV cars, where the occasional failure does not result in a loss), I just need something much lighter and as close to that image quality as possible.

Good comparison. So many options I know it is tough to do what all of us want. Personally I want to see a comparison of just Micro cams for racing. You showed in a previous video how the 4:3 /16:9 selectable cams are just reducing how much of the sensor is used and I feel like this is a negative for those of us using 4:3. The Eagle Micro cam has an amazing image, but it is the most expensive, heavier and the large lens typically sticks out past the standard protective parts of the frame that were designed for other micro cams making it more likly to get smashed. Seems to me that the Predator is a better option for a 4:3 racer even if it is not the abolute best image, but that is just my own personal opinion. I still feel sometimes that CMOS images are a little annoying. I am one of those people that has issues with Chromatic distortion, anyway good video thanks for everything you do.

Just wondering my runcam 2 board died a piece of micro chip fell and i wasnt able to find it since we can order the board itselt in a much cheaper price the question is are the lens and the camera case are interchangeable with caddx s1 will it fit? Because caddx s1 board is much cheaper than the runcam board. Hope you guys help me is there anyone who tried to swap the case with the lens between runcam micro 2 to caddx s1 micro thanks and more power

Hey joshua.. got a few problems here. Heres the problem. My FC camera(swift 2) vIN and vtx vOUT doesnt work no more and its got black image(i tried using different format auto/pal/ntsc and also 2 other cameras and still produce a black image). When i connect the yellow wire cam to yellow wire vtx..theres an image. Im using a holybro atlatl which i need the osd to change the mw . I was thinking if theres a way if i could remap the vIn and vOut to other ports or is there any other way i could do to change the mW of my atlalt without the osd. Appreciate your help

The f1 I have done a lot of testing over 3 of them on latency.. on avg they run 4.2ms latency.. they are the fastest cameras I have tested and I have done a fair bit.. the image is decent for the cost and they are under 5.5 grams.. they are fairly durable and a great race cam that is cheap to replace when you smack a gate head on.

Hello Bardwell, I am having a weird issue using with my video and using frsky rxsr. After a lot of work adding caps and rewiring this thin I have found that the hum bar I am having seems to be coming up after I turn on my transmitter and the rxsr connects. I am thinking maybe the telemetry is causing the issue but I don't know. I never had this issue before and it is only happening with a 3 in build using the predator and the rxsr. It is baffling to me and was wondering if you have ever seen this issue pop up before?

Yes it could be the telemetry transmission. Move the receiver antennas away from the video antenna?

Well it was the rxsr causing the humbar so if people ever have that problem the will need to move both the antenna and the rxsr away from the camera. The Predator is pretty susceptible to rf interference so I am thinking the need to add rf shielding to the case or something. Thanks for the help. Will contribute to patreon next payday. You have been excellent at answering my questions and I am grateful for you help. Glad to have some one like minded that I pick the brain every now and again when I am stumped.

Question your video about flying the Karearea with the efaw motors (trying to overprop) you said you were playing with racing rates did you like that flying style or is it not for you?

Yes I think rates of between 200 and 300 degrees per second, and largely linear (but with a little expo like 0.3 but no super-rates) are great for racing. MUCH more precise. I dunno if that's what these kids with their lightning reflexes are doing, and I really don't know how it would work if there was a lot of like split-S on the field, but I think it's pretty good for flat tracks to be sure.

I'm rocking an HS1177 camera. Not sure how these new things actually compare - perhaps you can compare 'old' camera footage to the stuff available today? Is it genuinely much better, or such a small improvement that it isn't really worth upgrading?

IMO modern cameras even like the Swift V2 are superior to old 1177, but especially if you look at the exposure algorithm in the Rotor Riot Swift v2, wow. And WDR CMOS cameras like Eagle just blow the older ones out of the water.

A full size glass dose not always make a better pictuer, I had a smashed lens befor that the center of the lens about 3mm radius was still intact but the outer off the lens was smashed to bits and it still work just fine. I changed it out for a new one and it made no difernce to the image. P.S. please get some help befor you lose it completely he he.
