We were the UP Male Glee Club under Prof. Eliseo Pajaro and Teacher-artist Aurelio Estanislao; afterwards renamed The UP Concert Chorus with the addition of women under Prof. Ramon Tapales. We were all fired up. We sang for joy and love of country then, how gratifying to hear and see these fires burning still. Mabuhay ang UP!! Mabuhay ang sining ng awit!!

50 years ago, I was 13 years old, and saw a similar show like this in UP which was anti-Marcos and anti-imperialist. It was in a makeshift theatre on the grounds of UP. I remember we watched the film "A Thousand Flowers Bloom" and afterwards there was a stage show which included nationalist songs and anti-imperialist drama. The final song was the International where everybody stood. That was 50 years ago and still remains vivid in my mind !!!

Maybe you do not know that FEM had his DPAs in the movement and that he accelerated the conditions for him to declare 1081, conditions are required in the 1935 Constitution in his capacity as Commander-In-Chief. Were Marcos not initiated relations with China and Russia during the Martial Law years to contain the anti-Marcos sentiments of the local intelligentsia limiting them to romantic yearly commemoration of the FQS of the 70s. But there was better more creative way of removing him from power of which Cory grabbed the credit with her supporters nominating her for the Nobel Peace Prize of 1986. Cory was leading us then in 1986 to a bloody civil war starting with the sacrifice of Ninoy for clan and hersupporters to have a fair chance of overtaking the two protagonists for FEM throne - the Ver-Imelda vs Enrile- Ramos factions.
