Inventeur, Maitre artisan en facture instrumentale contemporaine, compositeur & musicien.
Triple formation en sciences (Musicologie, Mechanique), techniques (associé des frères Baschet) and Musique, honoré par un prix de percussion au conservatoire de Toulouse.
En tant que C. E. O. de TitaniumSound®, il conçoit en 2010 le premier instrument de musique au monde en titane, technologies particulièrement appliquées à la conception d'euphonies et de harpes métalliques.
Comme explorateur du monde sonore, pionnier des Musiques Actuelles, membre de l'Ensemble Hope (1994) et co-fondateur d'INVENTOR, il poursuit une carrière internationale de musicien, de chercheurs associé à diverses universités et de concepteur d'expositions relatives à l'archéologie sonore de sculptures sonores.

Beautiful!! I have never seen a symphonic quality version of this instrument. And I have never seen all the techniques used to produce the full sound palette, so thank you very much for that. The percussive part of your demonstration reminded me, very fondly, of the music of Harry Partch. A light note: Your smooth hand motions at the beginning of this video made me think "A house cat would definitely enjoy playing this instrument"!

En effet, les frères Baschet ont regénéré l'euphone en France avec Jacques Lasry sous l'appelation orgue de verre lasry Baschet, puis orgue de cristal Lasry, puis cristal et finalement cristal Baschet. Dans les autres pays, les autres facteurs d'instruments ont souvent utilisé le terme de harpe de verre. Donc il était important de redonner le nom historique de l'instrument, pour pouvoir lui créer un répertoire et transmettre sa facture instrumentale (theses.fr/2018PA080120). Indeed, the Baschet brothers regenerated the euphone in France with Jacques Lasry under the name Baschet Lasry glass organ, then Lasry crystal organ, then crystal and finally Baschet crystal. In other countries, other instrument makers often used the term glass harp. So it was important to restore the instrument's historic name, so that we could create a repertoire for it and pass on its instrumental craftsmanship (theses.fr/2018PA080120). Thank you ! A Titanium Euphone sound database was designed by Spitfire Audio, without the agreement of TitaniumSound. Unfortunately, Christian Henson couldn't play the instrument in three weeks, understandably (!), and the instrument would have deserved a tuning before any captation. Still, it's been downloaded by tens of thousands of composers and sound designers, which is why the euphone sound has such a strong presence in the picture sound industry. Merci ! La faiblesse de la conception Baschet, dont Frédéric Bousquet a été l'assistant durant plus de 15 ans, réside dans l'emploi de plusieurs métaux. Lorsque vous mettez en contact deux métaux, vous créez une pile, donc le plus dur absorbe le plus faible. La facture instrument était donc obsolète et ces sculpteurs cherchaient surtout à produire des sculptures sonores, donc des claviers hétérogènes pas forcement pensés pour des musiciens. L'innovation de TitaniumSoud, réside notamment en l'emploi de mono-métaux (acier inoxydable ou titane), l'ajout de systèmes d'effets mécaniques, les études acoustiques et l'écriture d'une historiographie de l'instrument. (theses.fr/2018PA080120). The weakness of the Baschet design, for which Frédéric Bousquet was assistant for over 15 years, lies in the use of several metals. When you bring two metals into contact, you create a battery, so the harder one absorbs the weaker one. Instrument making was therefore obsolete, and these sculptors were looking above all to produce sound sculptures, i.e. heterogeneous keyboards not necessarily designed for musicians. TitaniumSoud's innovation lies in the use of mono-metals (stainless steel or titanium), the addition of mechanical effects systems, acoustic studies and the writing of an instrument historiography. I haven't seen Terence Jay's (I'll look it and him up), but I thought this one was fantastic, with a lot of thought and work put into its design and construction and a lot of thought put into the different ways it can be played. I don't doubt that it has some predecessors (another comment, re. "Lasry et Baschett" in the year 1960, above, implies as much), but I still think this one's pretty cool -- I could see movie soundtracks being made with it. I wonder what music is out there for it and similar instruments, solo or in a group setting (not that transport would be at all easy).

Thank you! I was the world's only maker of this instrument from 1997 until recent years, when new instruments appeared, often using the same name, but with a different acoustic system.
