One of the oldest fashions people have been doing since 5,000 years ago till now is tattooing. I have never heard people asking me: Is it a sin to dress inappropriately, have plastic surgery, have breast implants, inject steroids, have body piercings, body modification, etc.? Most of the time people have been asking me: “Is it a sin to tattoo on any part of the body with the name of on e’s lover, or tattoo a heart, a flower, a cross, any animal, a dragon, skull, or anything else except the figure of Satan or any unholy figure?
The command in the Book of Leviticus 19:28 says: “You shall not make gashes in your flesh for the dead, or tattoo any marks on yourselves (NRSV)”. So according to this verse, God warned the Jews not to tattoo themselves, and doing so they would sin.
The first type of laws was known as the Moral Laws which were intended for better living and doing good to others. The 10 commandments were the examples of these Moral Laws. These laws are everlasting, and cannot be changed according to different cultures. They are true and good for everyone. No one can change them by saying they are outdated and they bind the Christians also.
