my 6 wk old daughter was having open heart surgery & he came to our house before her surgery & prayed over her. we were in san diego calif at that time. then again few yrs later when she needed malrotatio. of gut surgery- he prayed over her again.

I will never forget the opportunity I had to celebrate mass with him at his office. What a powerful and inspirational servant of Christ he was for all of us. My deepest sympathies, regret, and sadness for not reaching out and knowing sooner. May God bless and continue the ministry he loved and shared with everyone around the world.

Fr. Peter Mary Rookey, may you rest in peace. You will be greatly missed. Years ago my mother from a small Texas town gave me one of your Miracle Prayer cards. After I read the prayer card, I recall thinking that you were a very special priest. My mother loved you very much and was truly sad to hear of your passing. Mother would tell me how she would telephone you and that she would actually speak with you. I thought how special of mom to have been able to speak with you over the telephone, just as if you were a good friend living down the street. Thank you for making my mother happy and all the other countless number of souls! Thank you Fr. Rookey for giving of yourself and for all that you leave us with. Although we never met you, we felt like we knew you and will miss you. And yes, I agree, how special to have this mass on the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows! You are now with our heavenly Mother as well.

I met fr. Rookey back in 2008. I flew from Los Angeles to Chicago and met him. I was diagnosed with breast cancer stage 3A. it was st Patrick's day. He invited me to his home. a dear friend of his guided me to him. we sat and ate with him and went to his chapel down stairs. He prayed over me intensely for a long time. The miracle prayer sinners prayer was a blessing to me. my cancer did not vanish immediately though. ..even so I had surgery etc. .they got it all. I am 7.5 years cancer free. I thank the Lord Jesus for my continuous health and my once in a lifetime chance to meet Fr Rookey. I am grateful to God for this. in the name of Jesus. Amen. rest in peace.

I used to call Fr. Rookey at his office,ministry many times to say hi and to have him pray for me my aunt and husband. it was always such a blessing to hear his comforting and loving voice. I miss him today.

Never realize that Father Rookey had passed away!! I always thought Father was still alive until just now!! The Island of Guam will surely miss you!! The former members of the Fatima, Dawn Rosary, Legion of Mary of Mangilao Parish will miss You!! & most of all the Ave Maria Prayer Group who brought You to our Island. I am so sorry for your loss, Tim and Anne!!! As you know, I love Our Lady of Sorrows very much!!! Such a special Feast to have a funeral on and what a beautiful Church!!!

I thank you from the deepest part of my heart for posting this. Though Father blessed me, led me thru faith, comforted me many a time, along with the dedicated people in his office, the hole in my life, since his passing is too large. He was a blessing to all of us whose lives he touched. He changed my life in lovely and indescribable ways. He made Jesus real for me, as well as his Mother, Mary. All who knew him and Christ know what a true gift this is. Thank you all so much for continuing forth his work and posting this. I miss him, all those who worked with him more than words can say -- a phrase we use all to often, but I just haven't another way to say this. Because I could not travel to Chicago for this occasion, this means so very much.

Eri Servo di Maria e, sicuramente non è un caso che nel 2024 io abbia concluso un dottorato di ricerca con la tesi intitolata: "La Congregazione dei Servi di Maria e il culto alla Vergine Addolorata nella Diocesi di Mazara del Vallo (Sicilia): arte e devozione". Sono onorato di averti conosciuto e di aver parlato con te! Grazie per tutto quello che hai fatto durante la tua vita per tutti noi, umile Servo di Dio quale sei stato fino all'ultimo e suo strumento! Spero con tutto il mio cuore che possa tu vegliare su di me affinché possa portare a compimento quella missione! Grazie!
