how to create interlaminar delamination 3d cracks using xfem in a composite laminate.should we use vcct or czm for delamination modeling. For material properties only giving engineering constants is sufficient or else should we add damage by hashin criteria or else damage by traction seperation laws. please help me

Hi. To model the delamination, the best choice is to use CZM. Also if you want to model the damage in the layers themselves, you must define Hashin damage. We have a premium tutorial about low velocity impact on composites which contains the definition of cohesive surface to model the delamination and Hashin damage to model the composite damage. why does one can not use XFEM for stationary cracks in 2D if there is an option to unselect crack growth during the simulation?

hi. in the settings of xfem crack, there is an option for selection between stationary crack and propagating crack but in 2d space it is not active so in 2d space the xfem crack always grows.
