I've heard that drum track in a lot of games. I wonder what sample it came from.

Interesting! Can you tell me some examples? Sadly I don't know how FA music was made, but given that it was released in 1996, there's a small chance that they used early Cubase or ProTools, but they might have been too expensive for a small studio at the time - not sure. There's a small chance they used some established Tracker to make music, although those were already slowly fading out of popularity. My main guess would be that it's a mix of live playing on synths, possibly with some software drum machine (possibly ReCycle!, released in 94), and maybe using SoundForge or CakeWalk or other audio editing tool to mix it down. ReBirth released in 97, Fruity Loops in 98, Reason in 2000, Live in 2001, so those are out.

​@@Milan____ These two come to mind: Age of Empires II Soundtrack - Track #1 - Shamburger AND Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit - Z Chronicles Theme I can't remember which but it's in another game too. Must've been a sample tossed around in the industry or something.

There was no MIDI version in the game at least. There were 9 music tracks in the game, 16-bit PCM 22kHz .wav files. I *could* certainly try to remake them in a modern DAW, but converting them to MIDI would lose the rich instruments, not to mention the drums wouldn't remotely sound the same.
