The blades entered my spine and my body would have spasmed but the nerves had already been hijacked. That didn't stop the pain from shooting through each electrical impulse my muscles knew. Trapped in pain that emanated from my own body rather than an outside force I wished I could scream. My mind did its best imitation of my vocal cords it could muster. And then my eyes rolled back into my head and all I could see was the white of my eyeballs. The pain didn't stop, it became the only part of me I knew still existed. A circular rhythmic pulsating beat that started right behind my left ear and echoed its pressure around me. A staccato of sharp slices of pain. Music to my ears. Then a finger twitch. I didn’t recognize it as mine at first. Instead the hand stretched and twisted, fingers becoming claws and then releasing outward. When it bent at the wrist, the hand became mine. My desperate gasp of air told me that my lungs were too. Without even allowing my mind to parse through the visual stimuli my eyes were adjusting to, my body slammed up into a sitting position. The panic, the fear, the… amber waves of grain? My eyes flitted across the silver accents of golden stalks of wheat flashing in somber winds. I pushed up off well tilled ground, only to feel the weight and hear the sound of clanking. Plates of armor framed my body, a sword hung loosely off my hip. But my gear was barely a moment of my sensory situation, instead the wind caught my hair and flared it past my face. The silvery white ends of well treated wheat released their tares, taking to the sky. I followed them upwards past the slants of setting sun rays into a darkening sky. There, they became indistinguishable from the stars twinkling in the turning twilight.

She always dreamed of the one who can be with here never asking the trivial questions, accepting her as she was. A King, a protector, a knight. And once, during a certain war, she did get her ultimate chance for happiness...
