I received a 1mL vial in the mail today. After applying the whole thing, I just sat there, stunned. Had I just discovered the PERFECT fragrance? Well, within the next five minutes, I was online, ordering my very own 90mL bottle. I will now pace the floor every second until it arrives. This stuff is absolutely incredible!

Over the years, I have also come to understand that people perceive concepts in different ways . Oud For Greatness is a great fragrance, so long as you don't over spray. I have a sweater that retained the far dry down for a least 1 month . . . even though there were only 2 short sprays to my neck area prior to getting dressed for the day. I find that over application will lead to a synthetic vibe that could be annoying to some. Thanks as always for sharing.

@@Joshua_Cruz With a strong projecting fragrance like this one, my weird ritual is: one in the chest, one in one wrist tap into the other and tap both in the sides of my neck and one on the back of my neck, if not that strong, I add two sprays on each side of my neck, and more sprays as necessary 😁

As an experiment I did two sprays of this on a 96 degree day last summer. My wife was outside in her hammock. She said she could smell it and she was about 5 yards away from where I stood. Also, Imho it does not smell like 540 enough to do a comparison. Definitely one of my favorite winter fragrances.

Also interesting how the sillage and projection bubble around smell different from when you smell it up close on your skin. The bubble is like more smooth and musky then when you go in to smell your skin you get oud and patchouli. Very neat

There is just something about the way this is blended. Maybe its just me, but i cant help but get an oil/water vibe, i just don’t think the blending is there. It doesn’t have a rounded off feel to me, its like two opposing sides that just never overlap, they just sit next to each other. But they’re never cohesive to my nose. Other fragrances, i can pick apart diff notes, but they usually come together to create something new. This, just stays as separate notes, that never coagulate into one. I like all the notes, just dont think they work together (here).

The opening for OFG is phenomenal. Mind blowing if I dare so. Reminds me of when I first got into fragrances and smelled Aventus....but I still feel the same way after a year. However, that dry down is extremely boring and uninspired.

Umm the companies (initio and perfumes de Marley were both sold off to another company, including the recipes)- now the brother and sister that sold it off told them that they would only sell under the condition that the formulas would never be changed, but obviously the company that bought off the brands does what every company like that does (waters them down and downgrades the quality of the ingredients.... And at that point, it's almost sad to say that it would be better to just get lattafas knockoff than to buy a 400 bottle of perfume that was watered down.

Nothing like BR540. OFG is a full on Oriental fragrance with depth and day long performance. Fragrances like this, with its mega performance, are becoming more rare because of price and versatility issues. One bottle would last a western worlder 10 years.

Lol, the first thing I thought of when I sampled OFG was that it reminded me of BR540 and I was surprised as I was not expecting that. Of course they definitely are different but on both them, 90% of what I smell is the saffron which is very similar in both. The spicy oud is more in the background to my nose which disappointed me a little. I like the oud more in Oud Wood as well but also agree with your comparison there.

I didn’t really pick up on it on my first try but my 2nd try for some reason 540 popped straight into my head 🤷‍♂️ 540 and OFG don’t smell the same but the saffron does smell similar but it’s just the 1 note. I don’t like jumping on hype trains too much and especially hype trains from certain reviewers 😂😂 but I’ve only tried 2 from Initio (Oud and Side Effect) both are fantastic. Smell amazing last ages unique but mass appealing. Will be looking to try some more from Initio but yeah those 2 are freaking great

Great review! I agree that the only similarity between this and BR540 is the saffron. I get why people draw that conclusion but if you wear OFG you easily get the Oud in the mid, which alone makes it different. I got this for Christmas, and I love it. One spray on the neck, one on my hand although I've found that kinda pointless as it gets washed off throughout the day, and speaking of the day the compliments come throughout. If you're looking for an "oud" fragrance, this might not be it, but I personally love how the saffron and oud work with each other.

I dont smell oud at all in this one. I definitely smell baccarat rouge 540 all the time. especially the red cherry like note. Initio is more metallic though. they definitely share a common synthetic that is like 40% of the receipt I'm sure...

To my nose the BR540 comparison goes a little longer than just the saffron, since Tuscan Leather is also a saffron bomb and doesn't remind me of the Initio for eg. I believe it's a saffron-hedione-maltol-oakmoss combo that's become the 'BR540 signature' if you will.

Aaron Terrance placed real oud on one arm and this fragrance on the other arm. After four hours he stated that is not real Oud. The combination of chemicals masquerade the real Oud. So you picked real Oud on the note? 🤔

I got Lattafa's Oud for Glory instead of this. Acoording to people that have tried both they are very close in the scent profile. I am happy with it as it is a very pleasant, creme bruleé-like smell to my untrained nose. Longevity could be better tho. Maybe you could compare those two.

I always layer Shaghaf Oud with Oud for Glory. The mix smells divine and I find the Shaghaf carries that OFG far longer. Like 10hrs longer.

lol , I think I'm in the hate camp, in the opening I get br540 and Absolutio vibes, then it gets dark and woody to me and almost dry , not bad at all. where I raise and eye brow is it smells like and random rasasi or lataffa, side effect smells like mula mula after the dry down, akastar and carlisle smell like. nothing new I also own fragrances that they mimic, so with all the hype and praise, it's a let down that no said , beware it's been done before, as someone always looking for something new and trying to keep the collection not reviewer sized ,I probably wouldn't buy it as of now

If you wear it more it'll stop smelling Christmas tree once you get used to wearing it. When I first got it all I smelled was Christmas tree in the mid and dry down and I think that's because of olfactory fatigue because the fragrance is so bombastic but now I get other stuff. People don't smell Christmas tree in the air when you get away from being right on top of the fragrance.
