Man I wish I got to you before you got a frame . My buddy has a titled frame that has gussets from bare racing . I think he only wanted 200 bucks . But yah I never heard of that company but on the gussets they have bare cut into them so I guess they made gusset kits for ltz frames
@hooligan57849 ай бұрын
Sabo I got an idea for your retro build. You should get two led pods and mount them to the bars in order to mimic the lt-250r lights. Also if you haven’t picked out bars yet please buy some faast flexx handlebars they are game changing. Also make sure you buy some super bright bulbs they are amazing and they don’t look like that crud luminescent orange/yellow Also if you didn’t know the z400 swing ais ms had a terrible design so I would recommend having it welded or get a nice aftermarket one(I bought a fireball racing one) You can also have the fly wheel lightened to make it feel more like a 450 You should also do a stage 2 cam and 434 kit or a 440 kit but that’s just my preference I know you want to use oem but I would recommend an fcr 39mm kit I know you have you master plan but these mods aren’t super visible, besides the lights, and they make a huge impact on rider experience and fun factor.

You need to build a small building in your yard that looks like a small ATV showroom floor for these builds you're doing it would be so cool if you could make them look like they are sitting on the floor in a shower room and it would be a nice place for you to store them and have them all together your content is great and I love every build I've seen!!!!

Thump Nail looks Amazing!!😮 Chase those threads after you chamfer them... Honestly you should chamfer before you tap, makes the tap grab sooner and you don't need to chamfer after. JS?! 😊 Also most larger taps have a center point in them, get yourself a spotting drill bit, or a scribe bit, and you can use your drill press or mill to hold straight downward pressure while you turn the tap with a wrench! 🔧 Hey, The More You Know! Excellent Video and I'm stoked about this retro build!

Hey Mike, professional welder here. Wire speed sounded a little high, if you back it down just a little from where you had it, should be about perfect. It will get rid of the splatter also. If you are ever worried about welding a gusset onto a thin frame, while you are welding keep most the arc on the thicker piece and just kinda wash the puddle over onto the thinner frame just until it fuses and then move back to the thicker piece. With a 110v machine you shouldn’t be able to set it hot enough to burn a hole in that thick gusset. .023/.024 solid work best in those 110v machines. Good work, loving this series.

Since you're not doing a purely OEM build I would consider a YFZ FCR carb upgrade. I feel that this is something they may have done had they done a special edition. A DRZ base gasket is another upgrade option that is a suzuki part for a touch more compression.

Flapper wheels on the die grinder make it easier to not leave a bunch of different flat spots on whatever you grinding. The width of the bevel should be half the thickness of the material. You can also leave a 1/32 gap between the two parts for the weld to sit in but whereever there's a gap things will move and shrink when cooling
