Nothing crazy in this video. I'm just showing how I "restored" the frame of my 1993 S10 on the cheap. Also a quick update on the parts collection

@@CheekyGarage . Hello CG. I’m late seeing this, and just wanted to say OUTSTANDING work on your frame. The Rustoleum you used is very good, and Coroseal would be fantastic (been using it 14 years) as your primer. The Rustoleum Rust Stop is equally AWESOME and you probably saved yourself 1200 bucks doing it your way vs the blast/powder coated route. What truck are you building? Belated condolences to you ( lost my Dad 3 months ago) and I hope your work situation has picked up. Stay safe, and again , your frame is bad ass ( I did the sandblast and Deltron myself in my chevelle frame in 1984) and it cost me about 400 dollars in blast fees , and doing my own paint. Never again for me as today’s aerosol products are top notch.

My father had a 1983 s10 4x4 single cab short bed manual sitting out at my grandfathers house, been sitting for roughly 30 years. Body completely straight motor rebuilt sitting in the garage, I'm going to rebuild it sense I can't find one anywhere for sale and keep the ole truck in the family. Needs the same work your doing, shits got me exited to get it restored. Going to start on it tomorrow get it move to my back yard start breaking it down.

Most of those converters are phosphoric acid based. It reacts with rust (ferric and ferrous oxide) to form ferric and ferrous phosphate. Stops rust.

Drilled and slotted are great for road racing but for the average guy city/highway driving it is not needed. Plus, the slots and drilled holes accelerate pad wear.

Hey bro I see you doing a good job but what kind of sanding pad and what kind of sander is that that you're using you should put the descriptions up there so people that are new to it and beginners like myself can understand what to use because I'm trying to exchange frames put a new frame on my 1983 El Camino super sport but it has rust on it and I want to get all the rest off so I don't know what type of machine you're using plus what grid of sandpaper thank you for your time and most of all thank you for showing us how to do it professionally thumbs up bro

Hey man I have a dirty frame just mud and old dirt. It's a 2006. No rust! But I want to install some led underglow on my frame but I need to clean it or it wont stick, any tips ? I was thinking of spraying it with degreaser and maybe hitting it with a grinder. I seen videos of people using oven cleaner. And I saw you used breakcleaner. Any tips ?

What hubs or spindles are you using on front? An adapter bracket? Stay safe man.
@CheekyGarage4 жыл бұрын
I have Belltech 2" drop spindles that will need modification. I'll be turning down the stock s10 rotors to create the "hubs" that will fit inside the Camaro rotors, and making a caliper bracket
@CheekyGarage4 жыл бұрын
There's a ton of info on S10Forum on this swap, including prints for the brackets, and there's a few videos on KZbin as well. Just search for Corvette/Camaro brakes on S10. It's pretty much the go-to brake upgrade

Hello, I am writing to ask if you sell materials for 2001 Ford ranger Diesel. Or if you have an address where we can buy the parts. Especially to know if it would be possible to deliver in France. I am annoyed, in France it is difficult to find parts. Thank you very much.

how do you knock the loose stuff off of the inside of the frame? And whats your method of painting the inside?
@CheekyGarage4 жыл бұрын
I didn't worry too much about the inside of the frame in the sections that were fully boxed. Aside from surface rust, my frame was rock solid. I got what I could get to, hit the inside with some compressed air, and stuck the spray can in where I could. Again, frame was structurally sound, just made it look nice. Not winning any awards lol

@@CheekyGarage See, I live on the salt belt and i'v been daily driving my dads old 94 Sonomal. He took DAMN good care of the pant job. He was the text book vehicle owner. BUT, I have out lived the trucks life span. Things have rusted from the inside out. I don't have any major frame damage yet but there is a spot near the front where you mount your bumper. It rusted from the inside out and a section about the size of my thumb just fell out. Same with the hood. Tiny rust bubble, poke it with a knife, i go through the hood and make a hole the size of a dime. I'm paranoid about the backside of metal rusting out.
@CheekyGarage4 жыл бұрын
@@AlphaNerd132 I definitely understand the concern. I'm no professional but my guess would be to have the frame professionally blasted to find out, but if you're going that far, swapping it for a known good frame might be for feasible. I wish I could be of more help
@AlphaNerd1324 жыл бұрын
@@CheekyGarage Ah its fine. When i take the bed and cab off, ill do a good inspection and patch anything. Ill also do some logic work. See where water will pool. Then drill a hole there. And possibly cap off some holes that don't have any logical placement. Also a question, How did your paint job hold up? I'm debating on going with a rattle can back paint coat with a few clear coat layers to give it some material to eat through, or going with the expensive 2 part undercoatings that are tough as hell.

I know everyone has different levels of money they’re willing to sink into a project like this but under no circumstances would I wire wheel an entire frame. Sandblasting is the only way to go
@CheekyGarage4 жыл бұрын
One day's effort and a couple bucks was a very happy medium between hundreds of dollars in blasting and painting/powder coating, just leaving it looking like crap, but hey, to each their own
