Framework 101 - Debate Clash

i'm not sure if you still check the comments or not, but as a novice debater, i'm still figuring things out. when should the framework be introduced (as first speaker) and how is it different from a weighing mech? are both necessary, or is it just one or the other?

The framework should be introduced and stated as a first speaker, so the judge can directly know how to determine the winner. If you don't say it directly, they judge may not understand and could become confused. As a second speaker, when you don't agree with your opponent's framework, state it at the beginning of your rebuttal and give at least 1 reason why. If they do not have a framework or their framework is really unclear, then state that out loud too, so the judge will know. However, as a second speaker, if you do agree with your opponents framework, then don't state their framework out loud at the start of your rebuttal. Start rebutting their contentions and points in this case. Hope this helps!

How would you respond if someone says to your framework, "we are not gonna use framework because we do not want to tell you how you should judge"?

This may be a little late...but most judges, even tech judges, use weighing mechanisms and frameworks provided by the debaters. So use it to your advantage and provide your framework. Don't argue with them (kind of pointless in my opinion), but instead tell the judge your mechanisms to vote. :)
