Framing - Levelling and Bracing a Long Exterior Wall

Hi, I'm Mitch from Century 21 United Realty in Peterborough.
In this video, we visit Josh from Ranger Construction on one of his framing projects. The focus of the video is how to level and brace a longer exterior wall during the framing stage of building a home.
The principles for levelling and bracing this wall apply for any build or renovation.
The key takeaways are:
1) Check your two outside corners for level (Plumb) on the exterior wall you are about to brace.
2) Run a string line from corner to corner along the inside edge of the top plate of the wall. Pull the line as tight as possible so it doesn't get blown by the wind.
3) Nail all your permanent braces to the top of the wall only, leaving the bottoms free to move in and out.
4) Use long 2"x4" or long 2"x6" to nail to the top of the exterior wall and to the subfloor as "Pull Brace" for pulling the wall inward toward the line.
5) Cut a wedge that fits a little oversized between the middle of the pull brace and the subfloor. Push on the wedge to flex the pull brace upward, and suck the wall inward toward the straight line.
6) Nail the pull brace to the wedge once the wall is flush with your corner to corner string line. Follow up by nailing off all permanent braces to the floor to secure the wall before landing trusses.

You do not level corners you plumb. It plumb is up and down level is horizontal guey

In Canada nobody uses the word plumb. We use the word level for both horizontal and vertical planes.
