One of the hardest pieces in the clarinet repertoire played like a walk in the park.

The person who disliked it is either deaf, jealous, or frustrated because he plays the flute and he realised the clarinet sounds better. 👌

When I was a clarinet student about 35 years ago, I certainly knew of Francaix (mostly for his wind chamber music) but only knew of the clarinet concerto by reputation - nobody seemed to play it, couldn't find a recording, and no KZbin, of course. I assumed it was good because I liked everything I ever heard by Francaix. Now, we're fortunate to have lots of recordings of it available on KZbin (and a few commercial recordings). To me it ranks in the top tier of clarinet concertos, along with Mozart, Nielsen, Copland, and Corigliano, yet I've never even heard about a live performance, much less seen one. All that as a prelude to saying that I love this video. You make a really hard piece sound, if not easy, then at least charming, as Francaix must sound. The arrangement for clarinet octet is great, and the video is delightful. It may be selfish to not be content with this first movement, but are you planning to arrange (and film) the other movements? And are you going to publish the arrangement? I could see it becoming popular in clarinet studios in conservatories around the world.

Absolutely incredible playing....the hardest and most beautiful clarinet concerto in the history of our repertoire literature - played with such elegance and sublime, impeccable control! Bravissimo!!!

This supreme artist, Baldeyrou, achieves as much artistic and articulation results as possible, phrasing, without any neurological or technical stress. I hear and feel that the clarinet seems to be "the easiest instrument in the world". It obviously isn't. Genius, artist, thank you very much!

@@nicolasbaldeyrou1 Yes, my dear friend, I know. I think it was Mozart who said: "I work hard to make the result look very spontaneous". I thank you for demonstrating this to the world, Nicolas, in your art. I don't play the clarinet, I play the violin. But it means a lot to me. Thank you!

Amazing! I don't know what I admire the most... Is it the skills for editing the video? Could it be the well recorded and mixed audio? The fine work of creating such a beautiful arrangement? This is my favorite 'performance' of this movement, if you can call it that. It's so light and playful. It's so French in all the right ways, just as one would hope for with this piece. Anyone else notice The Bread Man walking past at 0:59 to prepare for conducting duties later on? Other little touches like having the backing parts on a different clarinet so that you always know 'who is who,' I love it. And look how only the soloist has a proper jacket on and how for the recap, we get the same 'funny' bass clarinet faces from the same Nicolas wearing the blue denim jacket... Just found your channel now, wish I had many months sooner!

I started studying the clarinet and music at the age of 67. Music is easy to learn quickly, but not playing, not at all. After a year of studying one thing I know for sure, I have to start over as a child and learn a lot and do it when my hands and brain are closer together. For now that I still live this life and I know I do not have the time to study as much as I would like and that I have a few hours of flight under my belt I can only enjoy listening to you play and see you interpret a complete octet and a song that, yes, remember just the acrobatic flight but not of airplanes, but a little the flight of that famous insect .... wait, yes, yes, the Flight of the Bumblebee.
