Recorded on February 9, 1937, in the Studio Albert, Paris, on Gramophone Company matrices 2LA 1503 through 1506. First issued as Disque "Gramophone" (French HMV) DB 5034 and DB 5035. Issued in the USA as Victor 15114 and 15115 in 1938.
Françaix was 24 years old when he wrote and recorded this concerto, and Nadia Boulanger had been his teacher. The recording date was four months before the concert premiere, which took place in June, 1937.
Françaix's Piano Concerto is in four movements:
1. Allegro
2. Andante (at 4:41)
3. Scherzo (at 9:02)
4. Finale: Allegro (at 12:39)
