I read Interview every week, or however often it came out. A lot of it was fluff, fashion, colors on the page. But it was the best thing at the time. Julie Frazier, It is! And I love John coal train! And I love that song: My Favorite Things, but I always enjoy the studio version better than this live version. Even the studio version, which is one of my favorite pieces of music ever, would be unwanted in this video. And if I was trying to listen to that song I wouldn’t want to be watching or listening to the words of this video. The two just don’t go together. Lebowitz is an odd character: her reputation rests upon very little output. She's known mostly for two books, Metropolitan Life and Social Studies. Metropolitan Life is better; funnier and sharper than Social Studies. Now I learn that she has written a children's book, which seems oddly appropriate. She talks about having had writer's block for an extended period of time in other interviews. However, she seems to have had time to globe trot sharing her views on myriad topics. She's more raconteur than writer.
