5:08 I could be wrong, but I don't think the presenter, Renata Mauro, was overly thrilled that France won. We are used to the previous winner being there the next year to present the award to the new winner, but from 1957 to this point in 1965 this had only happened twice, in 1960 and 1962. I wonder why Gigliola Cinquetti wasn't on hand to present the award. France Gall handed the prize to Udo Jergens the next year in Luxembourg. Also, I believe I read that the orchestra caught France a bit off guard at first when they seemed to rush through parts of the song, especially toward the end. I wonder if the orchestra enjoyed playing it or hated the tune?...

She did an interview in 2015 - obviously the orchestra was not pleased with the tune (and they really hacked the performance - listen for example to the snare drummer literally HAMMERING with no sense of balance or phrasing). Also - it was obviously not rehearsed well - the introduction begins with straight (up and down) eighth notes, but when the trumpets enter, they loudly played the eighth notes in "swing" style. It might have thrown her off a bit because she entered a teensy bit sharp, but immediately corrected herself. She was just a young 17 year-old kid in a high-pressure situation! She was not pleased with the fact that the orchestra literally BOOED her! The interview can be found on KZbin here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mJDUaaxshLiAg9E For what it's worth, I love her! But she was basically EXPLOITED as a beautiful young teen girl by Serge Gainsbourg with his songs that included double-entendre lyrics. She has said that she didn't understand how she was being used because she didn't always understand how the lyrics could be taken in different ways - Gainsbourg's double-meaning lyrics are quite sophisticated unless you are a bit of a wise/mature adult native French speaker. Check out the obviously sexual "Les Sucettes," which France refused to sing after she understood the meaning(s) that Gainsbourg intended. Here's a Wikipedia article: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Les_sucettes She was such a lovely young lady!
