Guardian Culture so is this some sort of uk government sponsored show to tell your population why Brexit and all the consequences because of it are the right choice.... honestly who is paying for it, who hs writing the script? I’d like to know guardian! This is purely an opinionated series and people will make it what they think it means. I’m not sure if this will be helpful.

You say that as though it would be a bad thing. When it became clear that there was no clear plan forward and no one way forward with Brexit, there should have been a second referendum. That was common sense. Not to mention that the 2016 referendum was advisory, but for some reason was taken as binding. That is preposterous to begin with.
@MontyComedyOfficial
@MontyComedyOfficial 4 жыл бұрын
I think revoking Brexit on the basis of a second referendum in which the deal was voted on (with the possibility of 'No Deal' in a 3 way vote) wouldn't be undemocratic. However, with the situation in France it did appear just to be ignoring the will of the people. What happened in France would be what would've happened here if Lib Dems got a majority.
@TechTehScience

Yeah, because the way a Democracy works is once something passes we shut up about it and never discuss it again, yeah? I mean, by that logic, the Brexit referendum was simply ignoring the results of the original referendum to enter the EU - that passed - and the original referendum to Leave - which failed.

Last time Europe was a bunch of independent countries they were fighting each other and killing millions in a most inhumane way imaginable, and for no darn reason. Count your blessings. EU is definitely not a final product, it's a project in development. Many things have to be done, but you have peace and stability, and prosperity for most people. Don't swap it for the situation where countries start gearing up to start killing each other's citizens, just because they have otherwise solvable disagreements.

Well it is right in a sense. Our vote does become useless plenty of times. Not going to vote even by a great percent does not give a better result either. Before i vote i usually find that none of the choices before me satisfy or represent me,/my rights/my views/my visions. It's life and all you can do is take responsibility and choose the lesser evil in your mind. Not voting gives more power to those who do. Infurating! Vote even if it is one raindrop. Dear all, democracy is important. However I want to keep in mind two things. First, the people are not always right. Have you ever come across to some decision to be made collegially and believed the majority really voted for the wrong and evident decision? That is because the majority is NOT ALWAYS RIGHT. Secondly, I believe the EU as a federation should not be questioned. What should be questioned is the organization we want to give to the EU. In conclusion, if in any given referendum the peole votes no to be part of the EU either said people gets out of the EU or its will is not taken into account. For the sake of the unity of the continent, I prefer the latter even though it would stretch thin the fabric of our own society and politics. However my thought is still evolving, so who knows.

"the people are not always right" and which right does the elite have to define what is and not right? Isnt democracy meant by the people for the people??
@matteocasula4467
@matteocasula4467 4 жыл бұрын
@@sebas8225 as for the "right the elite has" that you mentioned, I can say that the "elite" (and you have to define what is elite) has no formal right to decide for the people. We want a system in which every person counts, right? But we're not still there, and honestly don't know if we'll ever be able to get there. If a person has enough resources to make a change, I say they have a moral duty to do so. Duty not right. Duty to make sure the world is left, at the end of their lives, better than it used to be.
