Mark & Leslie, I'm so sorry for your loss. This is the 2nd Christmas, but 1st full year, since my dad passed unexpectedly. He &my mom had 37years &4 months together. The beginning of this song hit so hard. Mom hasn't put up any Christmas for 2 years now. Dad loved setting up all the decor &lights, and she just couldn't do it yet. Grief is so hard.

This song cuts to my heart. I lost my middle child to suicide this year, my mother went to heaven the previous year, and my eleven-year-old daughter is living with her father because he has no rules. I love this song and always get a lump in my throat when it comes on our pandora playlist. I have read a few comments of how folks have been comforted in their time of loss. But for me it's the second verse that cuts deep. It's been over 8 years, but I was in that exact situation with no job and no idea how we were going to make ends meet. I had newborn a son at the time (he's 9 now, man how time flies) and made a terrible mistake in deciding to change jobs earlier in the year and that new job quickly went away and I had nothing. I hated myself for the decisions I made that put our family in the situation it was in. And in that time when I felt low, and worthless, Jesus met me there and carried me through. And I'm always reminded of that time when I hear this song; and I thank God that for all the times I may have run from him, He never has left me. All the times I thought I was completely alone, I never am, because Jesus carries me through. Praise the Lord for sending his son to save us. Praise the Lord for his mercy and love that defies all understanding.

Just heard this song this Christmas season. Perfect timing! One daughter going to Africa, one coming off the mission field after 7 years with foreign hubby and 3 children, one son serving in the Army, heading back East with 5 sons, another son dealing with some unplanned things and my in-laws both passed recently after my hubby and I took care of them in our home. Now looking for the next assignment while learning to rest and wait on the Lord. Not to even mention the mess our country is in.
